Re: Do the white, working class, long haired die hard Capitals fans from back in the day who used to drive all the way to the Cpital Centre for games even give a shit about the Capitals anymore?

When the team first came and was unbelievably terrible, I went out to Landover after work probably 12-15 times a year to see the likes of Tommy Williams, Bill Clement, and Yvon Labre get crushed by real hockey teams. Some of those losses to Montreal in particular were just amazing. Usually sat in the box seats over one of the exit portals between the blue lines. They were most often empty on weeknights and nobody would bother you. The crowds were small, so getting in and out was pretty easy. I had enjoyed the game as a high school and college player, so having a local team was a treat for me. When they moved downtown though, I didn't follow along. That was mostly because my kids came along at about that time, and I had other things to attend to. Now that the kids are gone again, it's that new baseball team that I go see instead of the Caps. I'm glad to see they made it to the Cup Finals though. Hopefully they'll do better than the last time against Detroit.
