Our Elected Leaders (Board of Supervisors) philosophy of "Economic Success Plan" (2018 +) include "mixed income" neighborhoods at urban hubs.

These "Urban Hubs" are being build such neighborhoods as Tysons Corner & Mosaic Merifield ("Where People Want To Be").

These are wonderful "urban living space" & Other activities of shopping, entertainment, nearby community centers, public libraries, and other activities
for healthier life styles every day.

However, young people and semi-retired who work at low paying retail jobs ($10/Hr or less) cannot afford to live in these "urban hubs' currently. They must commute, often elsewhere in Norther Virginia or DC-MD.

Question: How About A "Urban Farm Affordable Housing Project" Twin Demo at Tyson's or Mosaic Merifield Urban Hub ?

Low Income Housing Project (AHP)

Los Angeles, CA

Question: Can this Starr Apartment AHP be inspiration
for a variation as "good fit" for a Urban Hub
location at Fairfax, VA such as at "Tysons" (Mecca for Upper Middle Class)
or at Mosaic Merrifield Urban Hub in Phase II ?

Sounds like an interesting program.

Let De Jesus and MS 13 along with a bunch of screaming "Baby Mamas" move in, and watch the property values crash and burn.

Discussion: Scenerio you are suggesting is unlikely for AHP Project. You are confusing the "Old HUD" projects that were residences for mostly unemployed young with children.

AHP is not primarily for such persons, but mostly for "low income" people who do have jobs, often paying $10/Hr or less, typically at retail stores & services such as Barber Shops, etc. Also some students perhaps at GMU who are graduate students, on fellowships or work/study programs, making them "low income".

Last group, would be the retired or semi-retired, who sometimes go for low income type jobs such as working at Food Stores, etc. working part-time or doing volunteer work at the library, or non-profits, or under going some sort of a training program perhaps.

Gotta discard old obsolete thinking my friend !

AHP is a "success story" . Just ask some of the people who live at Starr Apts at LA ?

Waldo, you old bandicoot. How about a show promoting the talents of that incredible Meade Skelton?

Below is a 2nd "success model" of an Affordable Housing Project (AHP) that can be done here at a "Urban Hub" (such as Tyson's Upper Income Mecca) or at the new Mosaic Merrifield Hub Phase II (Fairfax Circle).

This example is from a urban hub in a small eastern European Country at Maribor, Slovania.

Co-Incidence: President Donald Trumph's wife, Our First Lady, Melania Trump, was born and raised as I understand, in this country, Slovania.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Question: Soooooooooo ...... may be we can approach her to help us connect with the amazingly talented architect group from Slovania who created this AHP example, to assist us to do a "Twin AHP" here in Fairfax County, VA ?

Any suggestion on how to approach our President D.T. and our First Lady to help us connect for the "poor" AHP project ?

A "Third" success model for AHP for Fairfax "Twin"

One of the best "success models" I have been able to identify, was build in 2015 in Minniapolis, MN, called the "Rose".

This project has 90 units, and is considered "mixed income", with half of the units, 45 reserved for "low income" persons (income less than the median income in the community, according to federal statistics).

The one bedroom unit for the "low income" is $636/MO. Probably a little lower than would be in case of Fairfax, VA, but still would be comparable to our Fairfax Urban Hub.

This is a "modular housing project" and was completed in 2015 on budget, and is now operating successfully at MN.

Anyone know Minniapolis and can give us any help with further details or thoughtful comments ?

How about "modular" housing for bandicoots?

They're pretty small, as you would know...
