I'm looking to get a quarter or half keg this weekend of decent beer for a party. What's a place around here that has a selection of good beers? Last time, I drove out to the Dominion Brewery, but that ended up being a huge pain in the ass since they were out of taps.
Total Wine seems to have an okay selection, and I've heard the Vienna Inn is good. Any other suggestions?
Vienna Inn has decent selection, plus you can get chili dogs while you're picking it up. Norm's in Vienna can also order kegs for you. Stay away from chains like Total Wine and spend your money at the locally owned joints.
Vienna Inn and Norms are great. I've boycotted Total Wine/Beverage for over 4 years now. The people there are complete assholes (at least in the Greenbriar location, consistant pricks) and they charge way too much.
I guess I shouldn't totally knock on the place because the Total Wine in McLean does have a pretty awesome section where you can buy single bottles of microbrew and import beers. It's the only reason I set foot in the place, that way I can make my own sampler six pack, and then go buy the ones I really like somewhere else.
If you like Old Dominion beers, you can get 5gal and half kegs straight from the brewery. They normally have 4~5 types available. Good prices as well, considering its really good beer.
Definately the Vienna Inn. I get mine there and the prices are reasonable and posted on the wall by the phone/kitchen entrance by the walk-in cooler.
This guy Marty was a bartender at Clydes in Tysons for years, and a few years back he bought the place from the family who owned it from the 50's after the old man died.
He tries to keep the ambience that was un-built for the last 60 years. I liked that, because he's sitting on some prime r/e.
The new safeway at the Pam-am Shopping Center has kegs now, I've never actually asked them about it. Walk up to the customer service desk, they should be able to help you
Good call on those spots guys, I usually go to Total Beverage to get mine. I'm gonna check these places out next time I need a massive amount of alcohol.
