Praying for the friends and family of the deceased female....
WASHINGTON — Police in Fairfax County are investigating after the body of a woman was found in Springfield’s Huntsman Lake around 10:30 a.m.

Her identity and how she died aren’t yet known.

No news on her age. Female wearing blue jeans and a grey tank top.

Zip code 22153

This was the work of a local contractor killing a worker to avoid paying her.

SPRINGFIELD, Va. (WJLA) - Kayakers discovered the body of a woman floating in Huntsman Lake Sunday, authorities said.

Around 10:30 a.m., first responders were called to the inland lake near Huntsman Boulevard and Fairfax County Parkway in Springfield.
At approximately 1 p.m., police and firefighters boarded a small boat to closely examine the woman's body floating face down about 15 feet from the shoreline. It appeared the woman was wearing blue jeans and a grey tank top.
The identity of the woman is unknown, police said. A team of detectives are on the scene investigating.
Police are not allowing people in the area to access the lake or its surrounding walking paths.
Additional details were not immediately released.

Despite the OP's posted title, we do not know whether this is a drowning or something much more sinister.

Appears that no one reported a female missing prior to the body being discovered.

Clothed, so likely not swimming.

Someone knows something.

Dark Humor is an "All American" trait. Its what we do when we are faced with sadness. I have been expecting some cracks about the Spanish guy who disappeared at Great Falls a week and some ago. "He will be a bobbin" said "Old Jolly Tar".

I feel for this woman's family when they find out about this , and its sad that no one seems to have a clue as to who she is for now.

I have heard thru the grapevine that it was a 22 year old female with some possible issues, and it appears to be a suicide. Heart breaking

UPDATED on June 16 at noon: The body found in Huntsman Lake is Leslie P. Brassfield, 22, of Fairfax, Virginia, police say. The cause and manner of death remain under investigation.

Leslie played basketball while at WSHS. As a 2011 graduate, she was too young to perish.

Thinking for those that loved her.
