There are like 50 cops and fire/rescue. I think I saw one of those morgue on wheels trucks too.

Anyone got more details?

No details yet. FCPD tweeted about the find but said no ID yet. Maybe a jogger had a heart attack & fell in? But if the body is floating, guess it's been there awhile

Anyone missing a female? Found one floating in a lake. This one can't be returned as it is no longer operable.

It was face down, so no way to know the face color.

It seems in the most recent reports that they have an idea of who this might be....been there for some time apparently and the rain last night disrupted things such that she popped to the surface. She was decomposed enough that they didn't know the sex at first.

I can't find anything about anyone missing in the area. Like Anyone asks, anyone missing a body?

Suspect will say she moved out just before she died.

There has has been a number of suicides by walking into lakes and drowning. Not sure why people chose to do this in FFX county but they do.

Police are on the scene Sunday at Huntsman Lake in the Burke/Springfield area, investigating a case of a body found floating in the water. The lake is located near Huntsman Boulevard and Fairfax County Parkway in Burke.

Kayakers discovered the body of a woman floating in the water Sunday morning around 10:30 a.m. and contacted police, Fairfax County Police said Sunday, on Twitter.

The body was removed from the lake Sunday afternoon, police said.

WJLA reports the body was floating about 15 feet from the shore at Huntsman Lake. The TV station reported the woman, who police have not yet publicly identified, as wearing a gray tank top and blue jeans.

Police on Sunday had taped off the area; most walkways and the lake were not accessible to the public.

No chit... further down huntsman, FCPD may want to investigate a self medicating Bipolar II-addict and a true 45 y/o hedonistic-sadist. That luckily, I were married to but had escaped from by my process of divorce, who lives with his parents as he can not fit into society nor care for himself ( his parents- one with also Bipolar and the other severe depression and apathy- both nearly 70 y/o " a ticking time-bomb ), and who is living as a hermit at: 6374 Shaundale Dr. I wish I were making this up and if any FCPD officer is reading this, I do encourage if there is any slight evidence of anything sinister in the cause of this poor woman's death... to investigate the above person & access his several multi-use computers.

Just curious if anyone has checked the lake yet today for more floating bodies?

Wonder how long they are being held captive in someone's basement and tortured before they are finally snuffed out and dumped in the lake. Are there turtles in the lake? Turtles like to feed on human bodies and may have consumed previous victims. The police need to drain the lake and conduct a thorough search for bones, jewelry, teeth, etc.

I just went down there a little while ago and sure enough there is something that could be another body, or maybe just sticks with a rag hung on it. It creeped me out and I left. I'm sure the police are checking the lake regularly for bodies. They will probably edd up dredging it too looking for the murder weapon and other evidence.

Nobody is dumb enough to through the murder weapon in the same lake they just dumped the body. If they are that stupid they should be caught and locked up.

I saw that too earlier today. Looked like an elbow or something in a blue shirt. Seems more submerged now. We shot some pellets into it already. I'm gonna get a blow-up boat or canoe and go pull it in. If it's a corpse/body the pics will be post here.

http://www.wjla.com/articles/2015/06/body-found-floating-in-huntsman-lake-in-fairfax-114754.html

SPRINGFIELD, Va. (WJLA) - Kayakers paddled upon the body of an adult woman floating in Huntsman Lake Sunday, authorities said.

Around 10:30 a.m., first responders were called to the inland lake near Huntsman Boulevard and Fairfax County Parkway in Springfield.
"It's crazy," said Trent Brown, who learned the news on Twitter. "I've lived here for 18 years. It's not a rowdy neighborhood so to actually hear about a dead body being here is like, wow!"

At approximately 1 p.m., first responders boarded an inflatable boat and closely examined the woman's body. She was floating face down about 15 feet from the shoreline. It appeared she was wearing blue jeans and a grey tank top. The main question: was this purely accidental or something sinister?

"The person was clearly dead and had been here for some time," Fairfax County Police Department spokeswoman Lucy Caldwell said. "Are there any missing adults? Has anybody called-in today or recently, regarding somebody that might be missing...? That's where [our detectives] begin and then they'll go from there."

Huntsman Lake has been the longtime recreational jewel of the neighborhood. People fish, kayak and canoe on the water. Many others walk the paved hiking paths that weave along the shoreline.

"I'm certainly hoping it was an accident where somebody fell down into the water as opposed to murder, you know? I think that would really concern me," said Reena Roy Mirchandani, a new resident who has a husband and two young daughters.
Rescuers pulled the unidentified woman's body to shore around 3 p.m. Sunday. It was taken to the medical examiner's office where an autopsy will determine the cause of death. Detectives would not say if there were any obvious signs of trauma.

Fairfax County has a lot of people. The woman may have been abducted somewhere else and her body dumped in the lake. I wouldn't be surprised if other Fairfax County lakes also contain bodies. It's not something you typically go looking for unless someone went missing nearby.

The same as when I'm driving and I see a dead deer or squirrel along the road I feel a temporary pang of sadness as I think about them just lying out there, exposed.

This got hushed up pretty quickly. Not murder, not suicide, but no explanation of how she accidentally ended up in a lake with her arm twisted and broken and had been apparently weighted down underwater for a while.

It is a tragedy when people get away with murder. Justice may not be served, leaving families and loved ones of the victim without closure. Although rare, forensic evidence and new technology can sometimes bring justice even years later. However, it is crucial for society to ensure a fair and just legal system to prevent such injustices from happening.

Nearly eight years after Leslie Brassfield was found in the lake, still no charges. She was not depressed or contemplating suicide and knew how to swim. She was not drunk or on drugs. Her body appeared to have suffered other injuries prior to entering the water but the autopsy has not been released. What about the rope that was tied to her to weight her down, which had come unfastened and allowed her body to surface? Why was the lake never dredged to look for evidence of the weight? Who killed Leslie?
