It's totally fine. My ex wife had her best friend, who happened to be a guy, as her maid of honor or whatever. Didn't seem weird to us and never heard any comments about it. And before the trolls pounce on it for being my ex wife, we are still friends. Just developed different priorities in life.

Serious answer:
The "maid of honor" and "best man" are basically just official witnesses. I don't see any reason why you can't be her honorary witness. Weddings can be any way the people getting married want them to be. Who cares what people think. Only the ones who can't think will say lame things. The ones who know you and your family will think it's great. I say that if your sister wants this, go for it!

There are a few well established facts about women in general and weddings in particular. Everyone knows that just about any guys best chance to get laid is at weddings and that if a women who suspect a guy of being gay are inclined to try to turn them.
Go as the maid of honor, gay it up a little but don't over do it and forget about what the career wankers of FFXU say. Your welcome.

If you must know, I didn't want kids and she changed her mind 5 years in and decided that she did. Now she is happily remarried with 2 and I've got a vasectomy and a tight 24 year old GF. Everything is aces.

Ok, maybe the poster was wrong about the "tired of your shit" part.

I've decided to read an original poem at the official ceremony.
My first draft:
Sometimes I rhyme slow
Sometimes I rhyme quick
Here's an ice cream cone
Honey, take a lick.
Just kidding. I'm thinking of going the Carson Pressly route and will make sure everyone is looking fabulous. This is, of course, after 20 mg of Valium and 5 shots of Patron beforehand.

Sorry, but it IS weird. Just call the guy a witness and skip the "maid of honor" thing. It's stupid to call a man a "maid of honor". Just stupid.
You didn't hear any comments, but people were whispering... WTF, how freakin' retarded.
