don't waste your vote tomorrow....

"Will the legislative branch finally attain power required to bring President Obama’s lawless administration to heel?

Or, is the American republic set to die an undignified death, drowning in debt, deficits, and dangers?"

Don't waste vote on ANY third party candidate.

As the most interesting man in the world would say " Vote wisely, my friend"

Do not vote for transportation bond. 84% goes to bike trails. Only 16% to road? Are you sh**ing me? Don't we need to fix the roads in fairfax before bike trails?

They do like to use poorly maintained trails as a reason for them using roads. But something tells me even if we had the best maintained bike trails in the world they still wouldn't use them.

Spend some time on the W&OD trail you moron. You might see the occasional 1000 cyclists.

How could I forget the W&OD reaches all parts of the county and therefore is not just a localized outlier. Silly me.

No, assfuck, only 6% goes to bike trails. 78% goes to 60 pedestrian projects all across the County. That's new and repaired sidewalks to support walking places more easily and more safely.

Not quite. http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/bond/projectlist.htm

It is a crime that people such as yourself can actually vote. Hell, even Juan Valdez is a more informed voter.

I am for bike trails. What I don't understand is why we need to go into debt to have them. They are an example of a project that should be paid for out of current funds. If we are not willing to raise taxes or cut spending elsewhere to have them, we should DO WITHOUT.

The real wasted votes are ones given to either of the corrupt two major parties. Don't keep the failed cycle going.

Take a finance course, moron. Projects that provide returns over the long-term should be paid for over the long-term. You will be able to walk along a new sidewalk for many years. You can pay for it that way too. Do you own a home, by the way? Do you have a mortgage? Why the fuck didn't you just pay for the whole thing out of your current funds?

Neither of the two major parties is perfect. But one is not dominated by lying corporate scum-fucks and goober dumbass misfits, and the other one is.

I did take finance classes idiot. I also did work on financial history, where you learn what can go wrong when you don't act prudently when following finance principals. Not every purchase that provides returns over the long-term should be financed. Doing so results in the accumulation of debt that has to be serviced when there might be better things to spend the money on, or when the project is no longer providing the same returns.

Yes we finance the purchase of our homes. That doesn't mean it is prudent to be financing the cost of the replacement appliances or the paint job, even though those also last. That's what savings are for. It is what foregoing summer vacation is for, or getting that second job.

Bulletin: Financing is the same thing as saving, except that you get what you pay for up front in exchange for a small and likely tax-deductible fee. I don't think you paid any attention at all in these alleged finance courses of yours. Debt is not an instrument of the devil nor a marker for fear of hard work. It is an important smoothing and utility-maximizing tool that should be a part of the financial management plan of any sensible household. The same is more than true in the public and corporate sectors, as any finance professional could and would apparently have to explain to you.

Except that there's a self-regulating limit to what can be saved and spent from savings/revenue which imposes practical prioritizations. There's not nearly so much the same for debt. Which is why so many people/entities get into trouble with it. Debt is a useful thing but too easily abused.

Financing may be, but debt isn't. Saving is spending today money you accumulated from your past earnings. Debt is spending your future earnings. You know what you had to sacrifice in the past in order to save that money, and you know what options you had to forgo in choosing what to spend it on today. When you are talking about something in the future, you are simply working from guesses, educated or otherwise.

> Debt is not an instrument of the devil

It isn't an instrument of the devil. It is however a gamble. You are gambling that the money will be available in the future and that there won't be more pressing needs for it. This is why it is important to balance out Finance classes with Financial History. The latter provides you with a background of when the THEORY GOES WRONG. Virginia leaders prior to Gov. Byrd took calculated risks that the improvements they were financing could be paid for out of future revenues. The problem was THEIR FUTURE PROJECTIONS PROVED INCORRECT. It happens.
