There is no need for volunteers in the County. Sure, they could run the canteen units, but overall, no need for them. They are a drain on the budget of the FRD and add nothing to the overall response to the citizens. Oh, and they abuse their authorities with pictures like this.

The FEMALE is actually a volunteer there, not him. She should have used the volunteer engine for her little stunt. It was NOT appreciated by others.

She's using the county engine for her slutty save the date announcement which she has NO right and did NOT get permission to use. Not cute, tacky. I'd be embarrassed to send out something like that.

I will assume she didn't get in trouble for this. Did they frame the picture and hang it by the volunteer office? That's how punishment works at 22.

Hey Newington Mechanic, now it's all starting to make sense... the reason why we always have to send shit back to you for a second, if not third time is because you're too busy letting people use them for personal photo shoots to even try to fix them.

I also call bullshit on your comments since that picture IS from 22, the damn thing is plugged in and that WAS our front line piece at the time that picture was taken.

I say we just start sending all of our front line equipment to the dealer in the first place to get it done right and just bypass you to save time and money.

Do you realize that you are encouraging the negative impression that the general public has of us when it comes to this sort of thing? You aren't helping firefighters--career or volunteer.

We may not get along all the time or agree all the time but you can't argue that--the comments are there and the public perception is there.

It's too late for you to do the right thing and not take these pictures (or at the very least use your own vehicle and not ours) but you could still apologize for your error in judgement and encourage others to think before they do something that has a negative effect on all of us.

What if your stunt has an effect on budget in some way, shape or form? Are you okay with that because I am not.

Please, next time, think it through and come up with some other way to create your save the date announcement that does not involve our equipment and does not create a negative impression of us.

Volunteers show up as the spirit moves them, no problem...but one thing the volunteers don't realize is that if they get hurt while on a call, they're fucked...career staff has excellent medical insurance if they get hurt, but the volunteers have some crap insurance out of Puerto Rico, and if they need additional treatment for that broken ankle, or long-term physical therapy, Fairfax County will leave them hanging in the wind....

It's all fun and games until the insurance runs out...Fairfax County does not have the volunteer's backs...
