Because they realize that over half of the overpaid Federal contractors will not be doing any real work either.

You've got people who can't come in to work because they had to stay home with their kids. You've got people who will come in late because they had to make alternate arrangements for their kids. You have a number of appointments that will cancel on you for fear they won't be able to make it there or back in the snow. You have other offices and businesses that you rely on to do your job that are closed or running short staffed. Then you have workers sitting around panicking about having to drive home when you close. c

I feel bad for those at work right now- they're calling for 5-8 inches. All of you bitching about it being closed don't realize it is going to CONTINUE to snow throught today and this evening- and you would be the same ones bitching on this board tonight how rough you had it coming home in the traffic/snow. Can't win for losing on this board...dammed if you do, dammed if you don't!

Totally agree. I went to Giant for a beer run and I think I spun a tire once in the parking lot. Conditions totally unacceptable for GSR's.

I work. Not as hard as I did when I had a business job, but I earn most of my pay. I agree, about 1/2 the folks in my building could get the boot without changing anything.

I am really grateful for a job I don't have to worry about losing, where I also get snow days and work from home and dental and vision coverage.

I have an inch and a half of snow in my yard. Of course the Gov should have been shut down. This is not your fathers Government!!

If you are at home, why are you bitching about someone else not going to work?
