Second victim dies in a double-decker bus accident
July 13, 2008 - 8:40am
WASHINGTON - District of Columbia police say the second victim of a double-decker bus accident died from his head injuries Saturday.
Police identified him as 35-year-old Michael Feiock of Centreville. Police also said the first victim who died shortly after the accident on Friday evening was 24-year-old Joshua Stole of Sterling.
Both men were standing on the open-topped upper deck of a bus when their heads struck a highway overpass.
The bus was heading to a Washington National baseball game. There were 16 other people on board, no one else was injured.
Nationals President Stan Kasten, said before their game Saturday against the Houston Astros, the team was "terribly saddened by last night's event. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of all involved." The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m.
The bus was traveling westbound on the Southeast Freeway and passed beneath the 11st Street overpass.
Officials say they are working with transportation officials to make sure there is enough clearance for double decker tour buses to drive under highway overpasses.
Police say Open Top Sightseeing, a private bus company in Tuxedo, Md., owns the bus.

What are the odds the families of these dudes will end up suing...
1) The bus company (for not properly warning people to sit down all of the time).
2) DC (for not posting the height on the bridge).
3) The Nationals (because they have deep pockets though they had NOTHING to do with this).

Sounds to me like they thought they could reach the overpass if they stood on their seats. Guess they could!
