What's the deal? Is this a glich on the complicated "World Wide Web" that I'm not understanding? Is it assholes? Are aliens communicating their invasion plans over these boards? I demand to know. I refuse to stand idly by while the fate of the world is jeopardized by jibberish.

spam bots. if you notice the patterns, they register as a name that uses all numbers and then make a post. ive tried to contact Cary about the issue but he seems to have long forgotten about this forum.

Yeah I'm here and these things are pissing me off.
They aren't registered users as one would think by the blue usernames. The usernames turn blue if the user enters an email address in the field while posting (which is what these spambots are doing)
These first showed up a couple months ago and I initially fixed them by banning ALL of the asia-pacific IP ranges from this site. Well, they're back now and coming from random-ass IPs, likely hacked windows boxes.
Unfortunately I have no immediate fix other than deleting this crap as I see it. Either that or forbidding unregistered users from commenting, which I'm not about to do.
Fortunately, this crap is affecting everyone using this forum software and the developers of it are getting real pissed off too and making more sophisticated ways to block it. The newest version is due out within the month and I'll be upgrading if it fixes this stuff.
