I wonder how many white people will fall victim to the "knockout game" while these games are occurring?

CMON MAN! Do you read before you post? I told you I do not give a shit who wins (re read my original post), I am just here to tell the truth about these "transfers". I quoted directly from the VHSL rule book that you referenced. If you have a problem with the references refresh your handbook.

Are you serious about referring back to the "athletic and/or activity" as a deterrent to having a transfer! OH YEA! my son wants to come to Smith because he really wants to attend this better school and OH by the way, he is a pretty good football player. Get serious!

Sure, I can think of 2 schools in the ex-ER whose football programs benefitted from the old days of liberal transfers. Those days ended right around when Landstown titled with Percy Harvin. Your first post stated that Chesapeake kids could still go to "any school" they want as long as they had transportation. Maybe so in the past but the district's current handbook requires in-zone attendance with the same exceptions we have here. Then we linked you to Chesapeake's sports rule book stating that VHSL rules, not the district, decides who can play. Even you cited the rule that playing sports can't be a factor. No player is going to transfer and risk having to sit out the 365 days. Others don't transfer because of the same reasons kids around here don't move and transfer into better programs. Some might still game the system -- but mobility is restricted vs. the way it used to be. Maybe at least we can agree on that unless we find out that some of the current players are illegals. I know Andrew Brown isn't.

Would rather engage you on this weekend's games--can SJ and Westfield pull upsets and will BW end up winning D5 North. What do you think?

Holy siht, I don't remember mentioning luck. Discipline, my friends, and technique will win the day. Centreville had it, with superior tackling, in the 2011 NR finals over Westfield.

And another observation about that 2011 Centreville team - how the the Coach conducted himself and led the team immediately after their OT regular season loss to WF. He gathered that team in a circle in the middle of the field, taking a knee, and commended his players for a well fought game. Such respect for his players, and in return from his players. Did not see a single hung head in that group. That impressed me the most about that team.

Great high school football game today at Briar Woods. Amazing effort by Broad Run team that lost by 35 to Briar a few weeks ago.

Gutsy effort by Vandy recruit McSorley, who was banged up and not 100%.

Should be great game next week for Region 5 championship vs North Staffoed - Massaponex winner.

Great job, Coach Griffis and your Spartans.

Yes, sounds like Broad Run really found something that worked the last couple weeks. To beat Stone Bridge who they got crushed by, then to almost take down Briar Woods who they did get crushed by, kudos to them for making me look like an idiot with my 3 touchdown spread.

Ouch! Just confirmed fdjk

23-20 - must have been good!

I was thinking that OL and OS would be the South Region Finals.

Guess anything can happen! Hope C'ville and LB remember that!

The first "college program" got beat down south tonight - Ocean Lakes. Will Oscar Smith be next? The karma of their recruiting methods are coming back to haunt them....

Well, if you are claiming that Ocean Lakes is cheating on such a rampant scale, how could they have possibly lost today's game? Hasn't God or Providence or whatever already decided to give them the championship trophy for the next five years anyway?

Stonewall Jackson thinks they can pull off the upset for the third straight time. They will have to play a near flawless game to do so. Rots o ruck.

SO glad you answered these posters' claims. If a beach team wins, it is "cheating." If it loses "it is karma" because of cheating. When SB won 7 of 10 NR-D5 titles, people said we cheated, too. People also wrongfully accused LB with Henderson, etc. These crybabies have "credible sources" yet they can't cite one single example. Should be easy to do if it's so "rampant." We see beach teams every year and over time they are no better than teams from here. Maybe they put more players in D1 but their teams have not dominated ANY state class lately except for Phoebus in D5 and that run is over!!!!

My first impressions say the score should be closer, within 10 points, and Centreville MIGHT have the slight edge in that game... but again, anything could happen before we get to UVA in two weeks! Westfield looks good, hmm?

Westfield beats Lake Henderson today 17-16. Yeah, Lake Henderson got "comfortably" beat today by a team that did not give up, even though everyone thinks it's all about Caleb Henderson. I wonder if he's doing his Cam Newton "Superman" move now? Him and Lake Braddock losing makes my day for a number of reasons! Hahahahahahahahaha! Go Bulldogs!

Even better, punk ass crybaby #9 on Lake Henderson gets a personal foul for starting a fight at the end of the game because he's so upset! Way to keep your head and lose with a little class you little bitch. I am so glad Lake Henderson lost. Total lack of class by that whole team. Bunch of cocky assholes got what they had coming. Although it might have been fun to watch Centreville stomp Lake Henderson in the final, but Lake Henderson proved they were mostly hype this season.

Agree, poster. LB lost and Westfield won. The refs let the two teams play and the better team today came out on top. I would have loved to see a centerville / lake Braddock game.
The game today was hard fought and well played by both teams. Congrats to the bulldogs, good luck next week.

Hahaha. Just like to see what goes around come around for some big time assholes. Karmic justice. Lake Henderson was so goddamn arrogant and without class this season, especially their QB. Saw him taunt and gloat many times this fall after beating up on weak teams, like he is some kind of NFL superstar, which is just what his father was trying to spin and hype on VA Preps, Gameday, etc. It's easy to pad your stats against weak teams. And it's easy to pretend you're some kind of legit option QB who can actually run. What a joke. He'll find out it's a different story at UNC, if he ever even sees the field.

Was at the game and even though Westfield hung in and took the game not sure they have nearly what it takes to beat Centreville next week. Remember they were losing 16-3 until nearly the end, not exactly an offensive explosion. Might not get shellacked like they did the first time against the Wildcats but not sensing they can beat CVille and go south to Charlottesville.

Agreed. Westfield hung on today and beat a very hyped up team which was really not as good as some people were saying. Centreville will be a big challenge. Not impossible to beat, but Westfield will have to do everything right and have a little luck (and luck is where preparation meets opportunity). Unlike today against Lake Henderson, Westfield will need to convert their 3rd and 4th downs, finish drives and not leave points on the field. Also will need to take care of the ball and don't make it easy for Centreville, which has an explosive offense. Should be a good game. I am happy to see these two teams in there.

You are probably not too far off. Everything will have to go right for Westfield, and Centreville will have to make some mistakes, to make it a close game and actually pull out the win. But as we have seen, Centreville can go down 21-0 and still come roaring back. Westfield's defense is better than South County's, but Centreville has so many weapons.

Braddock was up 16-3, and going for a 30 yard field goal with 5 minutes to go....ball was blocked and Westfield ran it all the way back...........then they got it back and drove down for the winning score.
Westfield ran the ball really well, but Braddock kind of gave the game away in the end.
That's the way it goes sometimes.

Nat,

I was at the entire game. LB totally gave the game away. Midway through the 4th quarter it didn't even feel like the two teams should have been on the same field it seemed so clearly in hand.

As was said, with about five minutes left, LB was driving into Westfield territory. In my opinion, the coaches messed up big time in that they were pretty conservative most of the game and most plays were the run option with very little passing. If LB had stuck to the ground game and used clock, it would have been game over. Instead, LB had an incomplete pass on 1st down and another on 3rd down, saving around two minutes.

Westfield has no passing game whatsoever, and usually takes around 4-5 minutes to ground and pound down the field, so even if LB had "gone for it" on 4th down, Westfield would have needed what was left just to get one score, nevermind two scores.

Instead, the FG try line drived right to a kid in the secondary who sprinted downfield. One of the issues was he was almost tackled at the LB 20 yard line, right in front of where I was, and a number of us believed the runner actually stepped out of bounds, but it wasn't called.

When LB got ball back still up 6 points, they got one first down, but then Henderson's helmet came off during the 2nd down play, so Edwards came in and almost got a first down. I would have liked to have seen LB "Bill Belichek" it at that point and get the first down on 4th and 1, but it would have been a risky call on the LB 30. They did punt and got it to Westfield 20, but LB allowed Westfield to break a couple of long runs, and they scored with 15 seconds left.

This is when the greatest extra point refereeing cluster f*** you have ever seen occurred. Westfield missed the attempt keeping the score at 16, but refs called roughing the kicker, even though it was tipped by an LB player. (Just to confirm, I talked to a kid just now at a friend's house who confirmed the ball was tipped), but the refs ignored that and called the penalty. After 2 LB offsides and 1 Westfield illegal motion, and a couple more kicks, the point after was good. That was ball game.

Bottom line in my opinion--LB played conservative at times when "airing it out" made sense, but with game in hand and clock and field their friends, they didn't manage the game well and just like Alabama, a fluke play allowed the game to get away from them.

Poor thing. Are you one of the blobs who stands on the sideline in your Lake Henderson purple people eater uniform and never gets to get on the field? Or are you one of the cowards who talks about it, but really doesn't even have the balls to take the risk of sucker punching some woman walking along and then running away? Probably both.

Nat,

I haven't seen Centerville play this year, but given what I've seen in the papers, I will be stunned if Westfield gets within 2 TD's in the final score, especially if their stud running back is hurt. I was not real impressed overall with Westfield--play hard and steady, but talent wise they didn't seem as strong as past Westfield teams.

I think this will play out like most people expect--Centerville winning the North comfortably and then Oscar Smith winning the state championship. But, of course, this is why they play the games because teams win on the field not on paper.

Definitely seemed to be a couple of bad calls. The change in momentum was palpable. If the LB kids had been able to shake off the mistake, they might have not choked. It had been a while since they had a close game. It was a lot of pressure.

I also attended the game today and saw a much different game. I thought westfield gave away the game in the first half. They were dominant on offense. Terrible play calling in the red zone killed them. Their coordinator really needs to open it up a bit. The westfield of old would have scored on both their opportunities and would have won that game easily. It should have been at least 14 to 14 at half. The opening drive westfield ran the ball at will and threw a nice pass down inside the five. Four runs later and no score. I'm not saying they needed to take the 3- I agree with going for it. I just hated the selection. Lb just brought a ton of pressure and gave them no shot. Then again with 1st and goal and penalty moved them back to goal and 17 to go. He finally calls a pass, a boot, opposite of his throwing hand forcing the qb to throw across his body and be picked. Didn't like it. Later in the game they started getting the ball to #1 on quick bubbles and a few deep balls. They were doing great things. After the half they never came back to those things. It was like after 22 got hurt, they got super conservative. The fb who moved to rb played his butt off. He was gassed. Get some play action or some regular passes to lighten his load. Even the westfield fans were screaming to thrown the ball.

At the end the block kick returned for a score was an amazing play. Westfield plays great D and gets the ball back. Henderson did have to come off for being on the sideline after a time out not his helmet coming off. The timeout would have allowed him to return after the helmet coming off - just like blood. Westfield has a huge run down the sideline and then scores. The pat was not blocked or tipped like previously told, the kid pushed it wide. I was standing in the corner of the track in that end zone. They did run into him and then there were multiple more flags because lb kept trying to fake the jump over the center (you can't run up to the line and stomp your feet before the snap). Braddock gets the ball back and was sacked multiple times to end it.

So in conclusion I thought westfield should have won all around. If Braddock would have held on to win I would have said westfield lost the game because of play calling.

Also - if you are Braddock why not get the ball to 24 more. He is a man and I doubt westfield could have covered him all game. He was open the majority of the time but Henderson never looked his way.

Two years in a row where the play selection has caused problems in big games. Last year against Oakton the play calling was awful. Today it was just as bad. Coach fired Shannon after last season because of it, he might need to do the same this year. There are a lot of old head coaches on the staff - let one of them call the plays.

Read the rules he came off for losing his helmet and the 2nd string qb went in and off and then back in he should have missed that play also. Funny Braddock fan saw the game one way and westfield fan another the truth wassomewhere in the middle ofboth of there observations. Had to be painful leading 16 to 3 with 5 + to go and tasting victory only to be sitting home next weekend with the other losers after going 12 and 0 with a tranfer stud qb and a under utilized stud receiver

Thank you Westfield for making this easy! We are going to kick your ass, just like last time only worse. You may score this time, but we will have the second team in by the 3rd Qrt.

Someone tell me why this time will be different. Centreville is going to embarass Westfield next Saturday at Centreville, everyone come out and watch!

braddock brought NO pressure. Don't recall them blitzing hardly at all. Regardless of your affinity for the playcalling, if a team can gain yards on the ground at will (Like westfield did in the second half) they aren't going to change.

First, I doubt you're a Centreville football player, especially a LB. Coach Newell is an awesome coach and his players certainly have more class. Second, why would you taunt your opponent, especially a district rival, anything can and will happen in a rivalry game. Third, please don't rest your prediction based on the last game, Westfield had 8 starters out in that game, they were the LT, RG, both DT's, DE, both MLB's, DB. Oh, and their QB was playing his first game back recovering from a concussion so I think this game might be a bit closer than most think. Point is, if you actually play for Centreville why would you be that stupid to offer bulletin board material? Don't think the Kids don't know what gets put on here!
