Hey there 703 Homeland, I would recommend that you consider taking that Goat of yours to Bubbas ECR&C. Go out there yourself in person and talk to Tom and Bubba and discuss what you have in mind for your cherished classic. Tom, Bubba, and Papo are some really great people that run their car and bike care business with the customer's needs first and foremost (check out their website or FaceBook page) and then the rest takes care of itself.

From personal experience, I am very happy that I found them and their services are top notch and unlike their competition they stand behind their work 100% with a courteous smile and friendly handshake. "Old School" ethics and integrity they are the best at what they do and right here in Fairfax County! Get your Goat done Bubbas Style!

This guy Sonny appears to be a aweful toxic human being posting these hateful stories out of spite and perhaps jealousy. Since the offended parties know who he is, I wonder why they don't go and confront him face to face about all of this and deliver to him what he deserves for all this hate and venom towards Bubbas? Nothing that they may have done in the past deserves ANY of this IMHO.

Unbelievable but then again we are dealing with Tom and Bubba. It would appear that they are actively planning to bolt to Fla very soon to escape their very dubious reputation here in Fairfax. Feel sorry for all the poor devils they have "serviced" over the years as now they will have to NO fall back when their cars start to seize up and their paint jobs start to flake away and the HR garage has suddenly disappeared. Of course the creditors will be SOL and those with cars in mid disrepair will probably have nothing to retrieve as "Bubbas Style"! Cannot say we did not warn you!

Fairfax Times went to go check the story of Bubba's Hot Rod Shop leaving the area.
Their shop has been an icon in the Fairfax City area for almost ten years now. They are still one of the best group of guys we have ever come across.
One thing is for certain, we have done our due diligence and these local community hero's who were filming their new TV show stopped to spend some time with us and welcome us into their facility again.
Rest assured they are not going anywhere nor leaving the Fairfax City area.
They consider this home and are very proud of it.
They did confirm that plans had been submitted to Fairfax City by the property management company, Combined Properties to renovate the shopping center they are located in at Fairfax Circle Plaza sometime in the next 3 to 5 years.
As much as they call this home they are heart broken that they will have to look for a new home in Fairfax City eventually.
They have no plans to start looking anytime soon because they know all to well how things can change.
When asked if they would consdier moving their business outside of Fairfax City they responded that the City is and always will be their home and there is no way that would change.
They did share the excitment of the opening of their new south Florida location which will compliment the Virginia location which has been in the planning stages for the last 4 years.
They realize what a challenge filming a new TV show and running two facilities will be but they will make it a success just like everything they do.
We wish them all the continued success they so richly deserve.
You will see by the pictures we took during our visit with a time and date stamp that Bubbas East Coast Rods & Customs is certainly a very busy facilty and a bee hive of activity.
They won't be going anywhere anytime soon.
Do yourself a favor and stop in to meet the great crew at Bubbas.
I promise you will be glad you did!

Tom and Bubba have worked on my car on and off for 6 years. The quality of workmanship, their pricing and service is above standard. The pricing of the parts and labor are reasonable.I have priced out parts and labor from other companies and the other companies were always more expensive.
I highly recommend these guys to anybody, and I have, to all friends and family, they to have been satisfied with the work.
By the way I was at the shop today, there were no U hauls or trailers and all the equipment was in the shop. I was watching them drop a new engine in my car, because the one time I took my car to another shop the guy stole my engine.
These guys are professional, personable and just nice guys including their staff.

I can chime in with my experience at Bubba's.

I have a 1956 Buick Special that i was looking to get some work done on. Initially, i simply wanted it checked out for road-worthiness and to have any important parts that needed replacing replaced. When i sat down to talk to Tom, he was a nice guy, talked with me in depth about my car and what i wanted to do, and assured me i'd get what i wanted there. So i decided to work with them. Dropped the car off and waited for them to call me with what they found and an estimate.

And i waited. And waited. And kept on waiting. A little over two months later, i called them to see what the story was. They told me to come in later that week, and when i got there, i was given a list of things they'd like to do. It was a generic list of putting on a new carb, new exhaust, and a bunch of new shiny parts that weren't at all what i was asking for. All in all, they were talking 10 grand for this list of upgrades i didn't bring the car in for.

I should have figured it out then and split. But i just declined all that, and asked for what i wanted originally. So i waited more. And again, after a couple of months, i called to see what the story was, because i hadn't heard anything from them. They said they were working on it, and they'd get back to me in a couple days. They did, and said they were going to replace most of the brake lines in the rear, put new wires and plugs in, adjust the brakes and rebuild / replace the master cylinder. Pretty expensive, all in all.

When i picked it up, the car wouldn't start. Left it at the shop, it was diagnosed as a bad generator. They said they rebuilt it. Went to pick it up again, car wouldn't start. Left it again, diagnosed as a bad starter. They had me over a barrel, so i got them to "fix" these things, then drove the car home (after a jump) and cut my losses.

Now, i should have known something was up. Because the master cylinder on a 1956 Buick is a one-off design for that year. And rebuild kits are expensive, nevermind replacing it entirely. They clearly did not touch the master cylinder. I've torn the front end and engine down now, and i realize that most of the work they claim to have done was not actually done. They did replace brake lines, but they didn't touch the generator, or the starter at all. I doubt they did more than a cursory inspection before sending me a very large bill.

To be fair, a lot of this is on me for not doing my due diligence when looking for a shop. I prefer talking to people in person to reading reviews online. However, after hearing other people talk about being ripped off, i do believe they fleece their customers and charge for work and parts that don't exist. It's a shame, there are very few good shops that work on classics these days, and this one seems to be run by crooks. I hope you guys get what's coming to you in a major way.

If you want your old Buick done up "Bubbas Style" or any classic car for that matter) then there is no other choice than to take it to Tom and Bubba there at the Hot Rod garage conveniently located here in Fairfax City with another facility opening up soon in Florida. These guys are really really good at what they can do for you and that is why they call this automotive prodigy "The Master". Enough said on this subject?

So who would you rather trust your car with Bubbas or the Jiffy Lube crew? I think they can do more for your classic ride at Bubbas? Thoughts?

From the looks of your past works and phony-ass paid-for-awards (US Commerece Association... ZOMFG... you're killing us!), I'd say anyone is better off getting Jiffy Lube to take care of them.

Good save Uncle Willy! I thought this very special and especially entertaining thread had unfortunately ended way, way too early. Long live this thread and let's stay on top of Bubbas to try and keep them somewhat honest!

Looking for a good place to do proper restoration on a 57 Chevy here in Northern VA. Do these folks really do it all body, paint, interior, and mechanical on these rare classics? Looks like they have won several awards (have trophys on their FaceBook from recent car show) and have their own cable TV show much like the American Chopper or Jessie James? Any close experience with this shop and any feedback regarding their work would be appreciated. Thank You

These guys look good and have done excellent work from the cars I have seen. I didn't get my car done by them though. Just seen their work. You need to go to cars and coffe in Great falls and talk to people. Took me 4 years to find my guy to do my car.

Ok Thanks. I wonder if Bubba's shop will be there at the car coffee? The Bubba shop looks like the place to go though with all their rewards and publicity they have earned. Planning to visit their place and meet their master technitians.

If they would focus on cars instead of all the other stuff they would probably be world famous by now. Instead it seems like cars are just an excuse for them to talk about.

Tv shows
TV show cars
tattoos
muscles
pin-up girl
Florida shops
dogs
I’m sure I forget some

They seemed obsessed with becoming famous but as someone mentioned before the personalities for TV just aren’t there. If you look at some of the old "tv shows" the shenanigans were so forced that it was uncomfortable to watch. So guys focus on the cars and maybe your day will come.

They have been struggling here in Fairfax for several years and can barely keep going. My guess is that they move their operations to FLA very soon with not much notice to the unsuspecting customers. Will be ugly when all this goes down. Heads up People!

Yes they try to promote themselves as the next "American Chopper" but fall "short" (no pun intended for the "Height Challenged" Tom and Bubba) - LOL. They will work on just about anything to keep their necks above water but realized this was a losing battle at best. Now they plan to leave Fairfax under cloak of darkness and start up again in FLA where their hit/miss reputation may not follow them. Good luck with that!

Toms father is pretty loaded. Is he funding the operation? Are they keeping Fairfax open and a Florida location, or moving to Florida?

Tom's father is locked and LOADED and no doubt funds Bubbas Shenanighans. My read on all this is that they vacate VA and FLEE to FLA soon to join the old Man in FLA. Their run here in FairFax certainly had its ups and downs. Some good efforts But many here wanted to disrupt their reputation due to customer (dis)satisfaction or envy of their limited success. Best of luck for them as the boy is pretty good with old cars.

That's a little harsh as I believe they have NO actual criminal records to my knowledge. Perhaps they cut a few corners and inflate their resto and repair estimates but these practices are found throughout the auto repair service industry. I believe they are leaving for FLA very soon to start over and hope they can regain their footing and reputation. Folks that have their cars there or recently repaired should take action otherwise they will be hating life when they come to Bubbas and find it simply shuttered in place.

Look for these guys to slip out of Fairfax under the cloud of darkness. The supposed "tv" show is a bubba style pipe dream and will end up as yet another distraction on You Tube competing with cutesy cat videos...LOL!

As I have said before they dont have the personalities for TV. Its so unnatural when they "try" to be funny. And with no family drama with each other I just dont see the TV show bringing anything exciting or interesitng.

Think about all the great reality shows, either we have whacky people or situations, straight up crazy, or family beefs. What does Bubbas have to offer?

Everything cept working on cars.

From Facebook. "Bubbas East Coast Rods & Customs Mark, we are extremely busy with the new TV show, personal appearances and opening the Florida facility. Lots going on around here. The best thing to do as call and speak to Rob as he keeps our calendar and everything is coordinated through him."

So damn true! You would think they would realize how they undermine themselves with all those "other" things Tom sets up at their expense which takes them away from their customers cars and missed deadlines. Hope the unsuspecting owners realize what is coming when they find Bubbas has moved to FLA.

Tom, this blog site has been basically 70 percent saying bad things about Bubbas east coast and the balance good. I would suspect that most of the good was by your hand one way or the other. I do suspect that you do have some happy customers. I think that most of us believe that Bubba does have mechanical ability. This blog site did not really address his ability. It was more about philosophy and ethics. You know better than anyone you have a lot of unhappy customers. You can feel it at the shows. In the early stages of Bubbas, people were talking about your operation in an ok fashion. Then word spread and most of the talk was angry and negative. And now, people don't talk about you or recommend you. For those of u who has good experiences at Bubbas, that's great, but don't think that tho ones who didn't are not large in numbers.

Seriously Bubba is great with exhaust systems and their Body and Paint man is excellent. The problem is that these two cannot be assigned on all the cars they mess with and are spread very thin and most unsuspecting customers end up with their less seasoned crew sometimes learning on the job as they go along. Whatever the case, best luck with your new FLA operations. You had a pretty good run while here in Fairfax!

From a business perspective, I don't know if you call how they ran their operation a pretty good run. In terms of knowing how to create and run a small business, Tom is a failure. He needs to get back to the basics like take care of your customers.

Pissing off too many of their unsuspecting customers over the years is no doubt why they have to close up shop here in Fairfax and relocate to FLA to somehow start from scratch. Not sure how this will affect their promotional activities with The new show on Velocity and their pinup model Layla.

My prediction is that the end result will be the same.....but even a quicker downhill slide.....do they think that changing the name to Bubbas customs and rods will fool the floridians. And for the show......unless they both get personality doubles.......the show will be equally as successful and interesting
