Your office is likely aware of a Mr. Scott Lehman. His postings to a popular message board, fairfaxunderground.com, led to the security lock down of Carl Sandburg elementary school a few weeks ago.

I have no personal knowledge of Mr Lehman. Through the past two weeks he has posted incessantly to the board, it is evident that his mental status has deteriorated.

Any of his neighbors, parents at his kids school, former co-workers, anyone who physically knows him. Even Terry could do it if he has actually had contact, even the school office workers who feilded his phone calls to Terry at Sandburg.

A printout of todays threats should be enough.

Although, look around, he's not even replying, if the cops got called to another school, he's not going to talk his way out of this. FCPD doesn't fuck around, most are assholes, they wouldn't put up with this kind of bullshit.

Where do you get this information. It is exceedingly difficult to have an adult committed against their will. Basically, you have to attempt suicide. I dont think just talking about it is enough. There may be legal ramifications for threatening to kill someone but its not enough to get someone committed. If Im wrong, cite your source.

Can Scott be forced to take medication? He has repeatedly said that he won't do that. In any case, if he is released after 72 hours, I can't imagine that it would be possible to ensure that he continues to take his medication.

I have dealt with a family member in the past who was prone to manic episodes. I don't know all the details but essentially you can only get someone on 72hr watch against their will if they pose a clear danger to themselves or others. Getting "committed", which I am assuming means having someone placed into care for more than 72 hours does require some sort of court order, and isn't simply granted by people/family members just asking for it.

Apparently in the past it was much easier to get someone committed without a threat of violence occurring, but as the laws became more lax in order to protect personal freedoms it became much more difficult to take action against people who are obviously unstable but don't make a clear threat against others. To be honest, I would feel safer if there was a smaller amount of burden needed to at least place people in 72hr observation.

Yes. But it also outlines that there must be an evaluation by a state worker or medical professional. I takes a magistrate to order the detention and they really cant order it without a medical evaluation of the person in question. I dont see '2concerned' agreeing to an evaluation.

Smaller amount of burden? Involuntary detention is a very serious topic. I would not go around wishing the government had pore power to strip people of their liberties.
