Where? Blue Ridge? Try not to suffocate from the poor ventilation.

I haven't been to the range in a year. I have a membership at Blue Ridge, but I've only been a few times. It's actually the range where I first fired a pistol, and my second time going I was ripping out bulls-eyes (I was already a marksman with a rifle). I need to find an outdoor range though, so we can fire my Old Man's 1884 Springfield .45-70 Carbine. The last time he fired it was in the 1960's, and it blew a 4-inch tree in half.

Clarke Bros in Warrenton is a nice outdoor range. They have 25, 50, and 100 yard targets. They also have a skeet area for shotguns.

I haven't been to Clark Brothers in several years, but as outdoor ranges go, it's pretty good, if a little rednecky. I've had some good times there, like the time a little asian guy wanted to try out the guy next to him's .454 Casull. It almost knocked him on his ass!

I took my girlfriend, who had never fired a gun before to Clark Bros and the range master fell in love with her immediately. He kept hovering around us all day and scoping her out (literally) as we went downrange to check out targets.
The shocking part is, by the time she went through a few magazines of my SKS, she was shooting 3-4 inch spreads at 100 yards, which only made the range master more infatuated.

LOL Last time I was at a range an Indian guy and his wife were freaking out over a Bersa .380 they rented. I've never fired a .454 but I got a chance to fire a
.500 S & W. A very ridiculous revolver.
I used to love it when guys would bring their girlfriends to the range. I'd sit in the booth with the other range officers and laugh my ass off when the .357 would recoil into the girl's face. Then I'd send one of the guys onto the line to make sure the idiot boyfriend didn't kill anyone showing off for his now bleeding girlfriend.

A .357 hardly has enough recoil to hit someone in the face unless they aren't holding it properly. The fact that you as a range officer would watch this unsafe handling on the range and laugh about it is a shame.
It has enough kick if you're only 90 lbs. and nervous. I know that you probably haven't seen 90 lbs. since about what, third grade? But try to remember what that was like. Anyway if it was unsafe we'd put a stop to it, but we're not going to be range nazis and hover over everybody who we *think* would be unsafe until we *see* them being unsafe. Suck it.
Why the girl with the Desert Eagle thought she was good looking enough to dress like that for the video is a fucking mystery. She looks like a toothpick.
Well, I suppose it depends on the girlfriend you take to the range. Also, if you're dumb enough to put a DE .500 in the hands of a woman that's never shot before, you deserve whatever happens.
My girl took right to my SKS (which was a rare paratrooper version that used AK clips instead of stripper clips). She isn't an anorexic and ditzy bimbo and I gave her a short gun safety class before even leaving for the range.
She actually really enjoyed it and I've taken her a few more times since then, with different weapons. I think everyone (man or woman) should learn gun safety and how to handle firearms.

I'd like to try clark bros but heard they're nazis about shooting only their ammo. I did drive to West Virginia with a friend a while ago just to go to a free outdoor range, sleepy creek I believe it was called. However I read the state of WV has since closed that down.

True, they are very adamant that you purchase their ammo which sucks because they recycle their brass and it is complete shit. Plus the shooting stations are too close to one another, have no partition, and (if there is a wait) it can take a while to get a lane. But if you're looking for an outdoor only range in this area...I guess give it a shot. (Fuck puns)

I've taken a few people out to the range who had no previous interest in guns, and they've almost all had a great time. I think that a lack of familiarity with guns breeds fear and misunderstanding. The best way to combat that is with education.

Precisely. When my kids were old enough to hold a tiny Chipmunk .22 rifle
I started them out shooting tin cans. As they grew older, I started taking
some of their Fairfax friends with us and most of them had never held a
firearm before. They're in their early 20's now and it seems that we've
inspired gun nuts all over the County. My proudest accomplishment though
is "JJ". His parents were both anti-gunners but gave permission for him
to go. He now owns seven guns and just got his Life Membership in the NRA.:)

The guy who trains me is a former Marine and now a licensed firearms instructor with his own business.
He's a huuuuggge black guy that doesn't tolerate fucking around when you're there with him. You won't waste his time or be stupid about guns in his presence. If you even pick one up the wrong way, he calls you out for it and tells you how stupid that was.
I'm 105, and never had a problem firing, or loading all of my own rounds in which he and my (then boyfriend), said I'd get tired and be sore from. I was neither.
You just need to use common sense and have a strong stance when firing a powerful weapon. The shit isn't for stupid, giggly girls.
