I prefer to say that Tom Cruise is a Movie Star. He's not really acting, because he is always playing Tom Cruise. He came up in the '80s, when it was all about the visual. The same era that brought us Stallone, Swarzennegger, Van Damme, etc... None of them can hold a dramatic role to save their lives. Of course, compared to them, Cruise is Lawrence Olivier!
