I'm not buying that. That explanation ends with "I can't find a source for it other than the Terminator wikia."
It also doesn't explain why they don't just send back nuclear bombs using the same method. Granted, SkyNet's military planning is pretty bad, but even they should remember that "bombs blow stuff up." It's the first thing they tried.
