Why do people feel the need to get dressed up in uncomfortable, un-natural clothes like peacocks, parade down the avenues in their latest model automobiles, and gather inside a stuffy box-like building, indoors, and mumble prayers, sing hymns, and listen to some stiff lecture about ancient scriptures that have been written and re-written by mortal men - in order to connect with their God?
That's just moronic at the most basic levels.
If you want to spiritually connect with God - sit outside on a mountain top or by a babbling stream or river, lay on a beach by the ocean, or on the shore of a lake; watch the sun come up or go down, take in the stars at night; breath in the fresh air; smell the flowers, trees, and odors of nature; feel the rain or the sun upon your face; catch a snowflake on your tongue; listen to the cacophony of the birds, and the beasts, and the billions of species as they go about their lives; watch the life and death struggles between them; watch the symbiotic relationships that they share to survive; interact with the infinite natural wonders that God has created and absorb their amazing beauty and splendor for yourself. Ponder with great wonder how all this can be. Share it and discuss it with others.
Don't just do it on Sunday. Do it every day. Live a spiritual life every single day with appreciation, awe, and thanks - for all of it - for the small fraction of mortal time that you have been granted to be a part of it.
Don't lock yourself in a box, confined to a small space, with small minds, worshipping the words and tales of dead men with small minds.
Life is awesome. Live it!
