Well the main reasons for the violence in mexico IS mostly because of harder drugs than pot and the fact that they are illegal is what makes them worth so much money to the violent cartels. You don't hear about dangerous cigerette or alcohol cartels in mexico why? Because you can go to the local store and buy them. there's no profit in it for them. If pot was legal it would cut down the money intake for these cartels and by taxing it here in the US it would bennefit numorous programs that are underfunded as we speak schools dept of transportation medical programs etc... you get the point. While i am for legalizing pot i do however believe other drugs are very dangerous and should stay illegal but the problem is those are the drugs that are making the cartels the big money and the reason so many people get murdered. Figuring that maybe those pounds are the best shit in the world it's still only worth about $3000 to the first step on the ladder. That same pound of say coke or heroin would be in the $35,000 area and the cartels will shoot you to keep that money.
