Of your list, I'd carry a compact Glock. Lots of calibers to choose from, and the simplest mechanisms of the guns you've listed (i.e. - less to go wrong if you're ever actually using it).

Dominion Arms treated me great. I got a Ruger MkIII 22 and a great gun to shoot,inexpensive ammo prices. Not everyone can afford to blast off a couple hundred .40 rounds at the range so this is a nice alternative.

Virginia Arms is much better for the Manassas area.

Can anyone recommend a range that rents pistols to try out? I'm looking to buy soon, but would obviously like to make sure I like how it feels in my hand. Ideally I want to try a SW M&P Compact, a XDm 3.8, a Glock 26, and maybe an equivalent from Sig or H&K. If the place doesn't cost an arm and a leg, it'd obviously be even better. Doesn't need to be close either, I'd drive a ways for a place that meets my needs.
