My all-time favorite place to eat was at a little Ma-n-Pa pushcart vendor in Kaohsiung in front of a large temple - stir-fried ong-choy
http://www.google.com/images?hl=en&safe=off&q=ong+choy with lamb and hot peppers, sitting on dinky plastic stools at a fold-up dinky table while smelling the incense...at 2 in the morning.
Yum.
Interestingly, the same pair gave me one of the worst cases of strep throat I've ever had - stupid me had a glass of freshly-squeezed cold cane juice from the OTHER cart of the two (Ma and Pa carts...) - the squeezer was probably the PERFECT place for bacteria growth.
Don't eat cold food on the street unless your immune system is used to it.
Another delightful food item, same city, was grilled chicken butt - so much so that I learned how to ask for it myself and went to "the market" to get it alone - daring adventure! Gee peecoo la-duh how ma?
