@Victim of the 70s: What a crock of shit you spew! You can't even get it right---it is Webelos with an "s". Webelos in my day in the Cubs stood for "Wolf Bear Lion Scout (they have changed this now to We'll Be Loyal Scouts) but it still represents the transition from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts. My very first post to Fairfax Underground was to this thread to counteract all of the misinformation abo

@ Deplorable: You've got to be kidding about the Giant bakery. I shop the 50% off day old artisan breads all the time and you can't beat that bargain and quality.

@Bill1995: Likewise, when "this cat really gotta go" I asked the station manager and he gave me the keys to the john at Vienna (luckily it was not at rush hour). But why are there no public restrooms at any of the stops in the first place!

@ Camps: Indeed I have shopped at the Good Fortune just a couple of times in the last 6 weeks and each time they've removed merchandise from more and more areas of the store. They also refuse to heat the place, so the cashiers are forced to wear coats. I predict it will be Adios in just a few weeks. Something about that location seems to be a jinx: Safeway--bye bye; previous Asian market--bye by

@OP: Complete BS! Strangely, I've even been seeing late-blooming fireflies on hot evenings over the past couple of weeks in Centreville.

As a Fairfax Co. resident I am proud to see this young lady has excelled in an Olympic sport after just a few years training. However, I am more proud to see that she is an engineering student. As a retired computer scientist I applaud anyone who can juggle a demanding academic schedule in sciences and engineering with an avocation of Olympic caliber (no pun intended).

Trader Joes Centreville isn't that bad. It seems that everyone just wants to absolutely park as close a possible. If you park back a couple of rows, even though you have to walk a bit (heaven forbid!) it makes up for the exasperation of trying to park in the first row. It's also easier to get out as you have completely avoided the mess up close to the store.

@Snoop: I enjoyed your joke about pawpaws on a dogdog. In a more serious note there are pawpaws ripe just now on Cub Run and its tributaries. It seems to be not a very good year (as compared to 2011, when there were a shit-load of them in the wild) but I just picked one today on Cub Run (leaving a number of them to ripen) and noted three downed ones that had rotted and been eaten by bugs. @arealhoot: Indeed I've heard many a barred owl (or pairs) hooting in the Cub Run Stream Valley Park. Their hoots are easily identified as as they are always to the rhythm of "Here comes the bride. Big fat and wide" (Others say "Who Cooks for you. Who cooks for you").

+1000 mjs: That FuckYouPayMe really doesn't have a clue. The defunct Old Dominion brewery and brewpub were NOT on a toll road, nor "on 7 beyond civilization." And I think he was alluding to "Assburn" being in Loudoun County, and thus its news not being of interest to Fairfax County residents. This is a complete crock of shit since in its day many people from Fairfax County (myself included) were

@RoseM: I cannot believe that anyone is so stupid as to claim that mulberries are poisonous. Just last night I had a drink with gin and some native mulberries that I picked a year ago---delicious. Also made a pie yesterday from from 1/2 wild blackberries and 1/2 wineberries. That, too, was delicious. And by the way I am Caucasian.

@ young and happy: You are so full of crap. What does age have to do with opposing a brewery. I'm 66 and wholeheartedly support this brewery as well as their neighbor Paradise Springs Winery. I've been enjoying wine and beer way before you were even born---you little pipsqueak.

@OP: Can't you figure out how to use Google to find this information? What others have said on this thread is erroneous or incomplete. Here is the latest information from the correct Canadian and U.S. government sites (and, of course, you can get additional detailed information from these sites, too): Identification documents required ---------------------------------------------------------

@Aldi#1: Right On! All of the detractors of Aldi don't know what they are talking about. Sure there are a few inconveniences such as bringing your own grocery bags (unless you want to pay for plastic bags), but the bottom line is that they blow the ass out of the major chains for their prices on many items!

The link given is useless and outdated as it still claims that the intended development is completely commercial. The whole story (from which the OP quotes WITHOUT GIVING ANY CREDIT) is found on the front page of this week's Centreview -- Centreville, Little Rocky Run---June 12-18, 2014.

@ hate it: I agree 1000%. The worst scum of the earth are door-to-door and telephone solicitors! I've been hounded by the both for years in spite of being on the "do not call list" and putting a "No Solicitors" sign on my front door.

@Blue Plains: I used to work near that place. I found out one of the reasons the plant stinks, especially in the summer, when some of us took a tour: There is one building where a series of chain-driven scoops pull out much of the trash (cardboard, wood, styrofoam, etc.) before the raw sewage enters the main plant. All of these solids are piled up outside, where they spew their odor from soakin

Bamboo, Schamboo. I grew up in central Washington State and we had black widows in our basement. I recall looking up from the stairs leading down and seeing the characteristic web right above my head and capturing one female (which had the typical red hourglass). Perhaps bamboo may attract them, but in that area of Washington State bamboo had absolutely nothing to do with them! There was no bambo
