no one in this thread has explained why GT centers hurt the education of the nonGTC students, though this point has been repeated many times. Regressing to the mean is not the best way to educate students. Why should students who are smart and motivated to learn be forced to sit in classrooms with students who refuse to concentrate, don't do their homework, and generally cause disruptions? If

Sounds like class sizes might've increased since the 90s, but we started in 3rd grade with 12 students, and ended up with 18-20 in 6th grade. IB Math Clarification: part of the problem is, there are two standard level math courses (IB Math SL) prominent in the US. Math Methods, which is AP Calc AB, and Math Studies, which is pre-calc.
