WHY ARE STUDENTS LEARNING Arabic? I am very worried about this. Students should't be learning Arabic at schools. Its the language or the terrorism. WHY WILL US TAX PAYERS VOTE YES? THIS IS INSANE. Does anyone know if they voted yes? This news report will be on Fox news we can't teach our kids that Language. Why do people think is ok? GOD BLESS AMERICA AND DON'T FORGET 9-11

All people who speak Arabic aren't terrorists. However, doesn't it make sense to have folks, understand it, if takfiri's, those are the shitheads in Al Qaeda, are communicating? Military intel perhaps?

Although I think the original post was a troll post, I'll answer it anyway.

Learning Arabic is a good way to get a well-paying job with U.S. security agencies these days. Pashto, Urdu or Persian are also in high demand.

Mandarin is not a bad choice of languages to learn these days either. That way you'll be able to communicate with our future masters.

A college grad who can speak arabic can basically name their salary now for a gov't position. You do realize that many of the people who are trying to kill us in any way possible speak that language, right? Might be helpful if more of us did...

Same for Russian and Mandarin.

Its written in English, of course. While the U.S. Congress has not officially declared it to be the official language, it should be, although of course it would be mostly a symbolic move, but one that anyone should agree with.

That and general intel.

My Dear Ol' Dad was sent to language school by the Army:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defense_Language_Institute

where he learned Chinese (listening, speaking, reading, writing) and later used that knowledge to listen to Chinese troop communication in Korea. Though I do not know if true (he sometimes joked about such things) he said he also read purloined love letters from soldier to spouse (looking for things like "I won't be sending another letter for three weeks" and using THAT to determine regiment movements...).

If kids can get that sort of useful language skill WAY before it's needed, it is good for everyone involved.

And, of course, when hostilities inevitably end the skills are uber-useful for business/travel as well.

In FCPS there are elementary schools that will be teaching foreign languages this year. This is not to enrich the current students. It is so the ESL students do better on standardized tests. Apparently teaching English is not a priority paying the SOL is. Thinking I am joking about this I wish I was:(

I really don't understand Fcps language post. How does teaching a foreign language in elementary school help the ESL students do better on standardized tests?

Army Security Agency no doubt. If your dad is still around tell him I played this for him. (run it to the 30 second mark if you want to skip all the radio chatter)

Lol! He would have loved that!

That attitude matches his perfectly - during WWII he was "just" a multiply-busted foot-soldier who was sent off to language school for some unknown-by-me reason. Years later he re-upped after being a civilian or something and got put on some mountaintop in Korea wearing the "plastic cans" of the song, listening to the Chinese troops, etc. Later retired from the Army and went directly to NSA.

Thanks.

No problem. Lots of vets went to NSA after Nam.
Several ASA vets websites and on Facebook too.
Amazing how many of my ASA friends wound up in the DC
area.

Some dork has written a new and "politically correct"
Ballad of the ASA but nobody listens. Not the PC crowd there.

I was wondering what was going on. A couple of weeks ago I was working in a middle school and noticed that there were classrooms full of really young kids being taught by middle eastern looking teachers. I went to the cafeteria and found a couple of lunch ladies who were called in to work for three weeks this summer to feed these kids.
The children were very young, like early elementary school age. They even had Arabic looking flags hanging on the classroom wall. I thought the whole thing was strange. One of the custodians said it had something to do with the CIA from what she heard but I have no confirmation on that.

The classes will be held again this summer in Arlington, Prince William,Fairfax and Fauquier counties. It seems creepy but it is for national security in the long run.

Arabic is the most beautiful language on earth. The summer school programs are strictly voluntary and the American children get to see that our culture is one of peace and love. Saying that Arabic is the language of terrorism is a very ignorant statement and I shall pray for you.

Who gives a fuck if the uneducated Republitards don't want to teach the most high paying and in demand language in America right now to their children. Let them limit their children's knowledge into the little box of bigotry they live in. They're doing themselves and their children a disservice. Fuck em. But see this thread has intentions past that. Not only do these Taliban type book burning neanderthals want to keep their own children ignorant. They don't want to be alone and are encouraging others to do the same. I still say fuck em. The educated teachers and commissiners would look at these concerns and kindly thank you for your comments and excuse you back to your respective trailers.

Not only will I take classes in Arabic, but I will also sign up for Camel Care 101, as well as a tutorial in turban laundering.

This will be in addition to the classes I already take, Spanish and advanced groping and bike path rape, as well as guacamole manufacturing.

I agree, we must all line up to kiss the asses of all those invading our country.

Why should immigrants have to learn our culture and language?

After all, in 20 years the USA will be so much more like the third world shitholes in which these mongrels have emerged from.

Knowing languages of other cultures means you're kissing their ass's? This thread is so stupid its mind blowing. Its an established language and a medium for communication with a certain amount of people in the world. That's it, a language. Plus Arabic is one of the nicer ones. I knew ordinary White Christian military Arabic translators. They wouldn't trade their language knowledge of Arabic for anything. They thought it was the coolest thing in the world. I actually met a fluent white american military pashto speaker once. Now that's fuckin rare, the language spoken in southern Afghanistan. He learned it on the ground through previous work with the Red Cross. This fuckin guy thought he was the coolest guy on earth and he was. I don't know how to explain to you the sheer intelligence multi lingual's have. You're just idiots that will never have such an ability and that's a shame.

Oh wow, I didn't realize how way cool the Arab language was!

Perhaps you should start posting on the Mensa community board , you obviously believe you're too brilliant for Fairfax Underground Off Topic.

Of course there will be those who say that you're a pompous douchebag , but I'm not qualified to make the distinction, I'll leave that for others.

In the meantime maybe you should consider moving to Afghanistan and learn their wonderful language , immerse yourself in their fantastic culture and become the second COOLEST guy on earth.

Let me explain something to you. You are nothing more than a virtually non existant spec in the history of the universe. Even within the confines of your own planet you are nothing more than a piece of shit with a very short lifespan soon to be no more. To sit on a high horse and spend your life trying to persuade others of your superiority of other humans. Is that really the most efficient way to spend your time?

Instead of learning Arabic, they should be teaching Mandarin. That will be the next big language in 5-10 years.

When you learn Arabic then the classical arabic spoken then you will also run into some truth between the Arabs and Jews that they both agree that Allah and God the messiah are both one and the same god.

Neocons will say this is a lie and they are both different but the truth his history proves neocons as wrong. By telling the truth will bring about world peace.

Neocons hate peace.
