Chevy Volts Owners Now Getting Cocky

That's right! We have Volt's and you don't!!!! Suckers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/48152467/ns/business-motley_fool/

The new ads are effective, showing real drivers gushing about how rarely they find themselves at the gas station.

I can do the folks in the commercial one better. My wife bought a Volt in February. She has yet to visit a gas station.

Her daily commutes are light. She works less than three miles from home. Picking up our youngest son from school and other errands typically entails brief drives. Cynics will argue that she should never have bought a Volt. The math behind deciding whether it makes sense to pay a premium for an electric car -- because the batteries alone set automakers back thousands of dollars -- is kinder for drivers who spend a lot of time on the road.

However, it's not just about the savings on electricity versus gasoline. It's not even my wife's need to satisfy her eco-friendly urges.

Gas stations are a hassle. Taking five minutes out of a commute to refuel may not seem like a lot of time, but it adds up in a world where time really is money. (And then there's the radio programming that gets interrupted.)

I love how he makes this statement and then does nothing to back it up. This is typical of the environmental whackos. They will make far reaching statements then go on to the next topic so they don't have to prove their point, because they can't.

There is only one way that the ad is effective. Does it sell more Volts? If it doesn't, then it is a flop. Chevy and the Volt do not need brand recognition. If it doesn't sell more Volts, it is just a waste of money and time. So, Motley Fool, how has the ad been effective?

But, it's a Chevy = shit quality
It's a Chevy - will fall apart in a couple years.
Electric - how much will those batteries cost to replace? And, how bad are they for the environment when the dead batteries are disposed of.

Also, is it fun to drive? Doubtful. Does it look good? Not at all.

Are you a dumbass for buying a $40k+ Government Motors car? Absolutely.

Get a Nissan Leaf. If there was a revolutionary advancement in battery life, you can just retrofit the Leaf's batteries with the new ones.

That is crazy "IF" there is a revolutionary advancement. With the short range they currently have and no gas backup you are screwed. During the recent power outage we had you wouldn't be going anywhere. The Volt makes much more sense.

And during power outages the gas stations are also without power, and the few that do have power are usually backed up for chaotic hours.

Moot point.

Not really, you can drive to another county and buy your gas. The day after the last big storm I had to drive to Winchester for the day. As soon as I got out of Farifax/Loudoun everything was fine.

Not as easy to drive to another county and plug your car in for 8 or 10 hours.

If the OP is not a troll then his wife is driving the car properly.

I have seen people buy the electric cars then drive on a highway.

THATS NOT HOW YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO DRIVE THEM!

These green cars are made for stop and go traffic which then charges back up from all the braking you do. Driving on the highway defeats the purpose of buying an electric car and you will get the worst gas mileage ever by doing that!

So since the OP's wife just drives around town then she drives the car as it was meant to be driven. THe OP will save TONS of money now :-)

They may actually save money 15 or 20 years down the line after putting out a lot more pollution than a normal car. But it lets them live in their fantasy world that theyre saving the planet

most people dont keep their cars that long. OP is still stupid as shit. VOLTS are fucking POS chevys with a big price tag. A civic or corolla sounds reasonable for the amount of driving. Yeah it takes 5 fucking minutes to fill up. It takes you 8 to charge up, so shut up.
