A reduction of TAXES on money that you've EARNED is not nearly the same thing as give-aways of other people's taxes to someone for doing nothing other than being irresponsible with debt and/or being a broke-ass.

They can reduce federal employment and spending in the DC area by half and it would have no effect on the programs other than dumping dead wood and redundant contractors doing the work that the dead wood is supposed to be doing themselves.

It would have a HUGE effect on the local economy,,,

Dollars are dollars no matter where they come from,,,

Personally I hope the Gov't cuts way back in the DC area and changes the laws on lobbyists and all the money they pour into the region too,,,then you'll know what the rest of the country faces every day,,,

And as far as deductions,,,,I don't have kids to deduct, or a house to deduct, so my taxes are higher than those who do,,,how is that fair?

It's still not the same as you alleged above with respect to everyone getting free shit. There are many various inequities in the tax code including the progressive rates. But I don't get anything from you paying more. You're just paying more. Whether that's fair or not is another matter but doesn't relate to your point above re a mortgage deduction from money you've earned being free shit.

You can make similar public policy arguments which say encouraging home ownership contributes to the betterment of society, which is why it exists. In addition, there are other local taxes paid by property owners for schools, etc., which directly off-set that deduction. Regardless, it still doesn't mean that I'm getting "free shit" as a result. Now if you want to use the example of the government subsidizing a write-down on a mortgage, then that would be "free shit."

I think there is a big difference between owning a home and spawning numerous welfare babies. One is the bedrock of a community. Guess which one.

No thats never been the point. There are legitimate welfare cases out there. Theres also MANY MANY fradulent ones. Obama has wanted to expand upon the free cheese not have it for what its designed for as a safety net.

And the safety net shouldnt be higher than the average wage of workers like it currently is. Thats what the point is and always been. Its never been that there should be no welfare, its been keeping it restrained and what it was designed for and not keeping promising more and more free government money like we see in the life of Julia.

Dollars come from the government and they represent value. It used to be the value of gold or silver. Currently, they represent the value of a promise by the Fed based on how much our debt can be auctioned off for. If dollars are dollars, let's just raise the minimum wage to $1 million and create millions of millionaires and everyone will live in mansions and drive Bentleys. But instead, a loaf of bread would cost $2 million because the dollar would become worth less (and pretty much worthless).
