Yup, he's broke, but he could probably find an attorney that'll work pro bono. Most likely what would happen is that Mike's attorney would advise FFU to pull this thread or face a libel or defamation lawsuit. To HDC: Don's podcast is like that of any radio host like the Sports Junkies or Mr Tony or anyone else in their situations: Said podcast is not a priority for these people, as they are employed by radio stations, who offer both live streaming and podcasts. If you continue to want to point out that Don's podcast is #144, what exactly does that prove? In Sacramento where he is ON the radio, his show is 3rd ranked overall for his time slot. Pretty impressive for being on AM noon til four.
I'm quite sure he is paid well for his efforts, and the results are that the station can charge more for commercials on his RADIO show. Like anyone actually in broadcasting, the real results are in the ratings and the money that brings in via commercial revenues. Anyone with a computer can have a podcast. The fact you somehow continue to bash Geronimo with this insane argument seems to reflect your total lack of knowledge of the difference between radio and podcasting. A thought would be for you to please:
Find the most successful podcasts. Please research as to how much revenue they are bringing in, and what the average salary is. Even Adam Corolla, who is more than Don / or Mike can or ever will be, does not make money on his podcasts. He uses them as a way of getting pub for his upcoming gigs and events. Funny, as I heard Mr Corolla discuss just that very subject with Mr Geronimo on Don's radio show a few weeks ago.
If Don's show fell to #1444 on the podcast charts but his radio ratings remained high he would feel no effect in his wallet. Mike can have the #50 comedy podcast on iTunes. How exactly is that either putting cash in his hands or pub for his upcoming events, of which he has none (unlike Mr Corolla)? And if it means that there is a groundswell for the return of Mike O'Meara to the airwaves because of his incredible podcast popularity where is it?

If CBS is trying to syndicate Don's show, there is a huge disincentive for CBS to promote the show's podcast.

Actually CBS hasn't really spent anything on promoting Don's show entirely. The podcast is just a feature of the show. You don't need to go to iTunes because Don's show is ON THE RADIO. If you missed the show you can stop by the KHTK web site to catch the archived audio. That is where the station (and it's parent company) want you to listen to the replays because the audio streaming on the KHTK site has their advertisers inserted into the breaks.

Advertisers can purchase an on air schedule and there are also online avails to be given to advertisers as added value or a sponsor can purchase an online only package.

So iTunes actually takes money out of the sales department's pockets! Yes, it helps promote the show, but that isn't the stations main concern. So you see, when you have a real radio show, iTunes isn't that important.

It seems like broadcasters aren't enthralled with the podcasting model. With a radio station, your costs are mostly fixed. So it costs basically the same if you are reaching 10,000 people or 200,000 people. As a program grows in popularity, it becomes more profitable.

Podcasting, on the other hand, has costs that increase as the program gains popularity. As a podcast's audience grows, so do the bandwidth costs associated with it.

So even if MOM were to increase the popularity of his podcast, which doesn't appear to be the case in the course of a year, the bandwidth charges help eat up potential profit.

Now do you understand why CBS isn't keen on promoting a free podcast from Don?

Or maybe just as we suspect, someone is making up stories to post here. Next they will blame one of us. I invited them a long time ago to PM me and I would provide them with contact info to my assistant. I could get his info if I wanted to but why?.

It doesn't bother me how bad they suck with their general content put out to the public. It is when they start blaming everyone else for their failure that makes them a target for criticism here. They blame Don, pounce on us as haters or whatever, blame CBS or the economy, in whatever manner they choose to show their weakness. We, in turn reciprocate by beating them down like the crying little bitches they are. It has become a sport in which they keep lobbing up softballs.

I've got to admit this:

The last MOMS podcast (12/21?) with Buzz's return was actually very touching and an overall excellent hour of substantive entertainment. All joking aside, hearing about Buzz's recent life-threatening drama, and the effect it had on everyone was truly riveting. Granted there was the occasional lame quip from Robb, but they didn't seem nearly as grating when placed in the middle of such a dire and scary story.

It's good to see Buzz back in good health, no matter what you think about him or this show. If only the other 249 episodes contained this amount of drama, humor and pathos.

Boo hoo, no show today. I was rather amused by reading a comment left by a patron (see attachment). Obviously several people have asked the same question or the comment would have been expunged from the site.

So this rube just shelled out $100 and is still banned from accessing Mike's "premium content". Looks like the jokes on him. Marc did offer some great customer service by telling the guy he could purchase all of this year's shows ala carte, nice! They installed some kind of cyberweapon on the recording equipment and the servers were physically damaged by a series of destructive viruses aimed at screwing up the VIP Packages. A couple users got blocked by a corrupted firewall (massive denial of service attack). Alot of time and money is being spent to correct the issue and hopefully Mike will get things running smoothly in no time.

I think mcsmack was just trying to say that it's bullshit that this guy paid $100 to be a "VIP" and doesn't even have access to the bonus show. TMOS is lucky that ANYONE would pay $100 for that bullshit, so they should probably take care of the customers they do have. but of course they don't.
i also think it's bullshit that they take 2 days off last week, and then come back to do only 2 shows this week. how hard is it to put together a few more 1 hour shows...even if they are pre-recorded, they should give their dwindling listener base something to listen to.

He has a master's in computer science, dipshit! If you know anything about Mike you know his one passion is data security. He actually coded custom algorithms that help protect the "VIP content" on the O'Meara servers. Fortunately, all of Mike's most valuable content is stored within the redundant server farm in his garage. Rob(b) is in charge of maintaining the ups and climate control systems during Mike's holiday vacation, I Know Spewak will do his best to keep to keep TMOS-net online 'till the new year.

I believe all of the DOS attacks may have something to do with WikiLeaks, I just can't prove it (yet).

But let's do the math. Assume 1,000 people paid $100 for 2011. That would be $100K. But, Rob(b) has said on the air that he has a 12.5 stake in the failcast. That means for the year he would be getting about $12,500 (not factoring in the costs of running the failcast). In the end a windfall from something like this might be $7k for the year.

Looks good until you start factoring costs, splitting the money, etc.
