That was good drama. The best part was when Don took an unscreened call about that matter, talked about the issue fully and explained what was going on and why Joe was quitting.

Just imagine LFF doing anything similar. He can't and won't take calls, preferring to do a radio show (that isn't on the radio) for 2 cackling jackasses.

He's here now (see answer to no. 1). Will allegedly also be back in a month for a "book release" party.

Well, the Red Sox snapped a 10-game losing streak, so Mike has to be happy about that...can you imagine an alternate universe where he actually managed to get a job calling those regular season games? What do you suppose a suitcase sounds like when thrown on the air?

The Failcast failed because Mike took a radio format and a podcast format and tried to mash them together. Mike wanted a radio show that could be picked up by affiliates but only wanted to dedicate an hour a day to it. If Mike had produced a multiple hour program that could have filled a three or four hour day part, he may have had more independent radio stations like KCJJ give him air time in exchange for commercial clearances. Instead, Mike didn't want to put in that much effort, yet ignored the possibilities of an hour-long block of time that didn't need to adhere to the restrictions of radio. All in all, Mike just isn't very bright...AU degree aside.

Nice work, Bubs! I do agree with taking the Don out, and perhaps having snippets of "I'm not one of you!" speech that repeat. It's hard to describe, but after the initial play through of the speech, little snippets from the same speech pop up over the music. Sort of emphasizes it.

Agree -- "I'm not one of you!" repeating as the segment and music fades out...

"LFF's Greatest Shits"! Just one per podcast, reach back for one of the (many, many) occasions when he made an ass out of himself.

His team of lawyers. Fan-TASTIC. Li'l non-commercial fair use for satire purposes never killed anybody. LFF has a team of lawyers like he's got a slim waist.

Let's pause for a moment. I don't doubt that LFF has a lawyer. But does anyone doubt, for one second, that that lawyer CRINGES when LFF calls? Never mind getting paid; you know that LFF is constantly coming up with stupid shit that he wants his lawyer to explain/justify/make happen.

0 chance that fat stupid hump has a lawyer on retainer anymore.

Every lawyer I know, bills for any contact by the quarter hour. So, a 5 minute call with LFF, that is rate / 4. 30 seconds to answer an email, that is another 15 minute billing charge.

LFF would burn thru his retainer so fast and get mad when the lawyer wants another $5k or $10k parked. LFF would ask to be billed and the lawyer would say, "LOL shut up you stupid fat man".

LFF: "Hey, let's do lawyering on trade"

Lawyer: "LOL shut up you stupid fat man"

LFF: "But, I want to sue people that make fun of me for talking about my scoot"

I wonder if there has been any discussion of vitriolic hatred in the Klub. Also, we know that the TMOS Failcast Krew has either read about it here or has been told about it by now.
My question is, will we hear any mention of it?

One of the problems with that though is one of the major reasons I DIDN"T listen for a long time...I assumed that since the podcast was called "The Mike O'Meara Show" that he was doing "THE MIKE O'MEARA SHOW" Meaning a 4 hour broadcast/podcast. And I aint got time for that every day. I also think that's a major reason that people DON"T seek out his show, because they think the same.

But I agree with your comment that he is trying to make a podcast with a radio format.
Where it is obvious that DJ driven radio is a failing medium...I know he and other DJ's probably blame Station Managers etc for the decline, but the simple fact is that in an era of "a-la-carte" entertainment, a medium where all they ever do is to try and force you to listen to all 4 hours live, is completely obsolete.
No to mention people are sick of all the standard "Radio Tropes".

They may swear up and down that they are not like those Morning Zoo DJ"s they make fun of, but you know what, they are more like them than they are Chris Hardwicl or Marc Maron.

If the world decides they hate the color purple, no matter how much you insist you are Lavender, pretty soon everybody will realize you are just light purple.

If you want an example of what podcasting COULD be, listen to Joe Rogan.

I did want to comment on the photo of Mike on his 'scoot' with the cop horn. As a motorcyclist, that is an obvious attempt to look like a cop. Why look like a cop? Because you are in love with them and want to be one. It is like a little kid in the neighborhood who wears a Batman outfit and jumps out of trees with a bed sheet.

The idea is very new...and the implementation is even newer. Doubt they know about it yet.

I'm looking forward to the first episode. There should be some sort of noise when it drops.

I love the idea of this thing being a fair look at the (many?) clips from the show that are just indefensible. There put segments out that should be an embarrassment. Let's point that out. Damn, I would love to panel on this thing.

OK I'll start on the second draft in a bit. I'm going to pull Don and probably add Mike and Rob stating that talking bad about a show helps it, from the Certa discussion last week. And I'm working on the safebackgroundchecks.com commercial with the great crew observations about what it's not good for and that it's really just a Google search.

I'll save Don for a clip segment, comparing it to how important TMOS considers P1's.

Now we need OWS to let us know what kind of segments he wants to do so we can prep content.

LFF wants his team of lawyers to argue that the US should adopt something like the recent European Court of Justice ruling that search engines must remove links to Web pages that contain embarrassing info about someone's past. He believes that would take care of any more people being directed to FFXU and the nascent VH.

Unfortunately, it would also result in the removal of links to TMOS itself as well.

The best podcasts IMO (which this will sound trite) levage the benefits of the medium.

What does that mean? Podcasts can have long form interviews and deep dive into a subject.

WTF is a good example of long form

The various network security and programming language podcasts are good examples of deep dives. Listen to the designers of the lang talk about why Python works the way it does.

Basically, podcasts can provide insight in a world dominated more and more with ADHD content

Keep the segments manageable. Play the clips, then start by commenting on it in a round-table format. None of us (presumably) are radio professionals, so keeping it tight will help protect the content. Don't want to make it easy to dismiss.

Don't try to do too much. Maybe no more than 5-7 clips to start? Evenly split between classics and new content?

Coolio.

What I suggest is the clips get posted, and whomever wants to do this, listens to them and makes a quick post about how they want to talk about it.

If we have too many people, we pick the best and do it. If we don't have too many people, well...It'll be better than the failcast.

Mike: I want Bob Hope, Blobb Spewak, Bubbyman, TMOS Stats, and OaktonWineShop arrested immediately.

Cop: You do realize that Bob Hope is dead and the rest of these names aren't actual people, right?

Mike: But they're all making fun of me.

Nice! You could even put a few more repeats in there. It may seem like overkill, but doesn't when you listen. The song is incidental, so it's ok to cover.

There was an open section that could use something, either a voiceover intro, or simply more snippets of ridiculousness.

Make the vocal a little hotter in the balance.

Way to go, Bubs!

I think the reason the klub and Mike aren't mentioning VH isn't because they don't know about it. They openly admit coming here and it's been a topic for over a week now. I think the silence comes from not being able to attack it.

Examples:
1. Rob named the podcast.
2. From the beginning it has been described as a non-professional podcast.(as long as you can understand the words, the audios good enough.)
3. Nothing will be untrue, everything backed up by audio from Mike himself.

Now if we just quit talking about it, they would attack, and when it gets released it will definitely get attacked.

That's why all we are getting at this point is "Mike's going to call the cops." or "Mike's lawyers will sue you." which if he ever does either one I hope Rob records it for the best audio vault in show history.

And for anyone that thinks they have no skills but wants to help: Suggestions are completely welcome at this point. Remind us of when you realized Rob was an ass and Mike had quit trying. Promises made but never kept. Everything, even if there is something good.

Pulling the "I'm not one of you speech" I also ran across Mike's great idea to put the show in an RV and visit listeners at home for an entire month, It actually would have been popular with the then listeners, plus a lot of viral advertising. Didn't happen.

A short clip of Mike talking about how he is a radio professional or an educated man followed by the 50 "anyways" and "incidentallys" he says every week would be a pretty good segment, in my opinion.

Also, play a clip of Mike saying he doesn't talk politics or that he's "moderate" and then play a clip of him ranting on a political issue. You could play 3-5 seconds of him on one issue, have that fade and then immediately fade in him talking about another issue for 3-5 seconds, have that fade out, etc etc. would be a pretty funny clip hearing him say he doesn't talk politics and having that followed by 10 different short clips of political talk.

We know Blob(b) is always on the "run" (now that's a mental image) from the FBI because of his audio vault clips. And every time LFF reads directly from Yahoo News, Joe Biden personally kills an orphan in retaliation. With his bare hands. You can't just play audio or read text that isn't yours! Everyone knows that. Also, pony boy is a series of clones. Dick Cheney shoots him in the face with a shotgun first thing every morning for putting up pictures blatantly stolen from other internet sites as the show thumbnail every day. It's a small price to pay to provide the quality failcast to the listeners who get it.

Does LFF ever claim all work on the failcast is copyright TMOS fucksticks or whatever?

I know creators get a copyright, but do the idiots ever assert it?

I can't wait until Mike gets word of our collaboration, blusters that he's calling his lawyers, only to never mention it again when his 'lawyers' describe 'fair use' to his lazy fat ass.

FHC, you are exactly right. Damn, you've been following this thread for a long time. You might be the oldest consistent poster here (don't quote me on that).

April 17th, 2014. First blow up is 12 minutes in, second is 14:18 to about 18 minutes. Mike is THE biggest horse's ass. What a total dickhead.

Edit: a nice clip 30 minutes in that's worth grabbing as well.

Enthusiasm for "Vitriolic Hatred" on FFXU > enthusiasm for TMOS on...well, any forum, really. (Noting that the TMOS Fan Club almost never talks about the show...they only post stupid shit to try to get Mike, Robb, and Oscar's attention).

We've almost got all the tech elements in place-- I'll make a post later tonight or tomorrow re: the specific clips we're looking at for the first few episodes. (I started with the idea of doing a retrospective "Greatest Hits" show to get things started, but when making that outline, quickly realized it was way, way too much for one episode...so I'm thinking about dividing up the first three episodes into shows featuring Mike, Robb, and Oscar/supporting characters, respectively.)

Btw, this may be pointless, but what the hell-- Mike, if you're reading, if you want to do a cameo on "Vitriolic Hatred," or voice the intro? Consider this your formal invitation. No bullshit, no strings attached-- completely sincere offer. I'll also offer to Robb and/or Oscar-- if you want to do any voice work for the show, consider this your invitation. I'd even be thrilled with a "Hi, this is Whomever, and I NEVER listen to the Vitriolic Hatred podcast."

No?

Edit: I suppose it's only fair to include contact information in such a message: ows.ffxu@gmail.com. That's your go-to for any contact regarding the show, by the by-- suggestions, feedback, whatever. Legal threats, blah blah blah.

Just no fucking "pinups of the day." (It's the Internet, I don't need help finding porn.)

News from the front:

Mike and Carla are back in NoVa, staying with Carla's Mom -- in her one bedroom condo, with their baby and two dogs. (Did Carla's Mom separate from her husband?)

Mike was grousing about the traffic in DC for most of the podcast. He's just so lucky to live in Fla, because Fla is soooo much better!

Now I'm going to give bubbyman's intro for Vitrolic Hatred a listen!

In a 4th floor walk-up, no less. Carla's mom, with a bad back, gets the couch, while Carla, LFF, Jr. and dogs are in her bedroom.* One night in a Georgia Staybridge Suites on way north (where the pet surcharge alone was twice their entire motel bill on way to Florida in April) tapped out their motel budget. RP I, II, whatever: Mike and Carla not be makin' STACKS ON STACKS!!! no mo.

*When your guests leave, Carla's mom, (a) watch your step and (b) watch for sharted sheets. With LFF's documented fecal emergencies and those superbly house-trained dogs, your bedroom may never be the same.

That is the conundrum of this forum.

And tell Mike not to question or underestimate the power of love. After all, as Brother Huey proclaims, it's a curious thing, make one man weep, make another man sing. It's strong and it's sudden and it's cruel sometimes, but it might just save your life.

LFF's "land of suck" exurb traffic argument is so excruciatingly tired. He has zero credibility on the subject since he was making the same argument when his commute was one flight of stairs (which he was historically incapable of making 100% of the time). News Flash, the commute from GAINESVILLE to DC at 7:00-9:00AM is going to be terrible. It's a carved-in-stone fact. It's equivalent to saying Blob(b) is morbidly obese and Oscar laughs like a little girl being tickled by a naughty uncle. No one, except apparently one "Michael Sean Patrick O'Meara", is surprised by that fact.

There's a reason "Location, Location, Location" is such a real estate cliche. Some people are cool with commuting from Winchester, Fredericksburg or even spots in West Virginia to the DC/NoVA area. People also choose to live in Gainesville, Haymarket and Manassas. What I have not frequently encountered, aside from Mike's fucked out ramblings, are people who think they have a constitutional right to live in BFE and still have a "money metal commute". There's a reason that distance from DC is directly proportional to real estate value. If you want to live way out there, deal with the consequences.

Mike, *YOU* chose to put your dumbass, destined to fail, bar in Manassas.
*YOU* chose to live there.
*YOU* chose to commute from Manassas and/or Haymarket to Fairfax, Rockville, Fairfax again, and DC (at 5:00AM). In the past 15 (20?) years, none of these have been good commutes during rush hour. It's a known quantity. You're not "sticking it to the man", "raging against the machine", or making a bit or sense by saying the DC Mayor should fix 66 in Arlington.

If you could afford to stay in a hotel for a week, you wouldn't be commuting from Gainesville. Take some personal responsibility. Acknowledge that you were touched inappropriately by a granite countertop salesman at some point.

I don't enjoy a long commute, so I chose to live in Fairfax. I've worked in DC, Herndon, Reston, McLean, Sterling, Rockville and Bethesda, and have yet to have a consistently miserable commute.

(as a side note, should we buy a brick at Jimmy's?)

He needs the $$. I imagine if he cared about it, he would place it in a very obscure, nearly impossible to be seen location. People don't look at these bricks, and even fewer would get what is in effect a coded reference to LFF and TMOS. We'd have to be much more blatant to be banned and blocked (bricked?).

Boy I'm with you. I am fairly certain it would be a trainwreck, but I don't think my blood pressure could handle it. I'm also fairly certain I would get downright pissed.

Yeah..I'm enjoying my morning. I think I'll let someone else take a listen and give me a synopsis.
