Donnie G's show actually draws listeners; therefore, it sell ads; therefore, it exists.

LFF's show(s) have failed at multiple outlets (by not drawing listeners); can't sell ads; now reduced to a twelfth-string failcast.

Radio's pretty simple. If you can draw the right kind of listeners and sell some ads, you'll be around. If you're not a complete dick, PDs will give you chances.

It was interesting looking at that old video footage of Don & Mike. I notice a lot of people from the 80s in the "Robb" role who moved on to better (or at least different) things. Rob(b), on the other hand, decided to remain the "Teapot Tim" of the Don & Mike Show. I'm not sure how many signs Rob(b) needs to see before it finally dawns on him that he is on a dead-end path. I think the greatest curse is that his wife's silent indifference is being seen by Rob(b), mistakenly, as support. She needs to rip what's left of his asshole (after LFF is done with it) open and make the point that this is not acceptable behavior for a father and a so-called "bread winner."

What's Rob(b) dreaming of? A paycheck? If Spewak had played his cards right years ago he'd possibly still have a job and career with CBS.

But Rob(b) had to be a wise-ass, thumb his nose at the CBS career, and follow O'Meara so where's he now? Spinning records at KCJJ on what is probably the lamest, hacky-assed DeeJay show in the whole USA. When he's not occupied with that creative effort he's turning knobs on a toy mixing board in MOM's living room or crawling around the floor at KCJJ connecting cables at O'Meara's feet.

I think your boy Rob(b) **is** living his dream, I doubt he could handle more success, his head would explode.

hacky ass i like that expression

oh this is horrible I've listened to 3 failcasts in 3 weeks. Just listened to portions of the 1/17/12 show. I cut out part way thru the audio vault. LFF is back from Ft. Meyers and back on his whatnot diet. Big Oskar apparently had a big weekend with some hookers and he came back with even a mot girlih laugh which he does thru most of the failcast. once again I didn't know what he was laughing at. I must be missing the inside baseball shit that apparently has the failcast garnering some 30,000 listeners to the failcast daily as lff said.

If you're not a Fan of The Belcher on Facebook you should "Like" him. In a round about way he has been bashing the LFF and crew the last few days. It seems like he will be working with some other Podcasters (ie: Adam Carolla) and keeps putting down the failcast.
Here's his latest post:

NO Fence Sitters allowed here. 16 of you have been made gone for 2012, and I suspect that more will also be made gone. This is only a Failbucket page, who cares. Choose your hilarity, and do it now. 2012 will be bringing great fun from This Here Spot. Wanna puke your cash on a crying couch that longs for death? Kanock yourselves out. Go chase lost long-lost-nostalgia while the world passes you by. Throw your cashmoney in the toilethole. Congrats.

But this year, you'll see all manner of fun, new stuff that you haven't heard before associated with genuine radio shows and MAINstream podcasts, channels and Interweb NETWORKS.

This will be a good year for versatile, talented hilaritymakers. The hackneyed, same-old-SAME-OLD, unshowered, barely bathed, can't get 9 people to show up at a saloon for an event types will fade away.

WELCOME TO 2012, THE YEAR OF PROFESSIONAL COMEDIC PODCASTS.

NO COUCHES. NO LOVESEATS. NO LIVING ROOMS. NO BEGGING FOR DONATIONS. NO SQUANDERING OF THOSE "DONATIONS". NO POP-UPS FOR .0000000000009 CENTS PER CLICK. THIS YEAR WILL BURY THE BLOATED, OBESE FAILCASTS, AND BE THE YEAR OF GENUINE INTERNET NETWORK COMEDY. FREE. NO PAY. NO "PAY $9.99 PER BOGUS SHOW TO HEAR US CUSS" SHOWS. NO DVD/CD OF COMPLETE FAILURES BEING PATHETIC.

WE'RE TALKING FREEEEEE COMEDY. NEVER PAY FOR A PODCAST, EVER. EVER. EVER.

Life is short, having fun should cost nothing. If some assholes want you to PAY FOR COMEDY CONTENT, THEY ARE FAILING, NOT FUNNY TO BEGIN WITH, AND DESPERATE. DO NOT FALL FOR IT.

I love me, and so do you.

I am a regular reader in these threads, but never a poster, but I had to post something after what I read. O'Meara posts up yesterday about how people should respect the Office of the President, and that is how he was raised and that is what he does. Excuse me? Is this this the same person who mocked the last President with his poor impressions and turned his "non-political" radio who into a political radio show? It's hypocritical bullshit like this that just sets me off. I am not here to defend President Bush, rather to point out the smallmindedness of a failed broadcaster.

Carolla sold Mangrates, yes. I'm sure Mangrates, Inc. paid Carolla exponentially more to sell Mangrates than it did LFF.

In any case, this is probably what happened. Oscar went out to LA to give Carolla a check to sell Mangrates. During the exchange, Oscar probably mentioned the failcast and said, "we should partner with you sometime" to which Carolla said, "yeah, yeah, great."

I seriously doubt Carolla ever seriously considered anything and once the check was deposited probably forgot Oscar's name.

I'm not sure what pics people are talking about but here is her old Junkette page

How the hell does Oscar keep pulling these women. He is not the worst looking guy but he must have serious gave or they think he is sliver of fame is that great.

First, she's much better looking than Kara. She doesn't have defects like the crazy eye and the stabbing scar. Also, it's doubtful she's anywhere near as batshit crazy as Kara.

As for Oscar pulling this, you have to keep in mind that any young and hot girl trying to hang out with a bunch of balding, graying and fat x-frat boys simply because they are on the radio must have huge self-esteem issues to begin with. Oscar's modicum of fame and his associations with the Junkies and Dukes must provide these chicks with some sort of affirmation due to that low self-esteem.

Rob(b) simply shouldn't be on the radio. He's not funny and has a terrible voice. The guy should be at Best Buy stocking shelves with Miguel and the guy with Down Syndrome.

+100. That nails the JFK/Junkette/Bret O. 'culture' and describes O'Meara's chubby fan-boy krewe to a "T".

I was in DC this week and listened to the Junkies for five boring minutes, the only joy was imagining how miserable Lurchie's commute to/from God-forsaken Ashburn to the wasteland that is Lanham must be. Good riddance Junkitos!!

So what happens if LFF does have a gig lined ip in Florida? Are Rob(b), Oscar, Buzz and Ronick going to hang out every day in Rob(b)'s apartment? Or are some if these guys going to figure out a way to end up in Florida, making a mess of Carla's living room down there? You do know this money-losing beast won't go quietly.

Good for Oscar. She is hotter than Kara, and from that Junkies link, it looks like she may have even been friends with Kara, which makes it a bit sweeter for Oscar.

I don't know if it is Oscar's "fame" that would still get him above average tail. He seems to have money from some source. I don't know if he gets it from his parents, or if his day job doing Mangrates and something with computers actually pays pretty well. Either way he has a fairly expensive place, a sweet car (I'd love an Audi A5) backed up by an older nice car, and flys out to AZ fairly often. He maintains this lifestyle somehow. Listen to those old BOAD episodes (and probably MOM episodes too) where he talks about how much he paid for with Kara. Sounds like a pretty nice gravy train for a chick looking to be taken care of.

Aren't they just doing another live appearance at Jimmy's Old Town Tavern for the Super Bowl? I really don't understand why anyone would go to listen to that fat ass blabber on when you want to actually watch the Super Bowl.

I'd love to go and laugh very loudly in all the wrong places
I sort of know tom gavin, we use to hang together over at the 1320 club in ugly springfield, probably could talk him in to going if I give him a ride

Ah, but if O'Meara gets drunk (OK, **WHEN** he gets drunk) at the apperance, maybe he'll yell 'SCIENCE' into his mike for two hours.

be that as it may, listen to jan. 31 edition of failcast as lff chews out buzz for his lack of improvisational skills over the boring and a tad racist herman cain opening bit

difference between lff and donnie g. donnie g. realzied buzz's lack of improvisation long ago and after all these years lff hasn't seemed to have figured that out
oh, lff whisked back to fla. to try out for some announcing job with the boston red sox?

if the failcast has 30,000-35,000 listeners or podcast downloader a day and say they generate a buck a listener per day so after expenses they must be generating some cash

The key word there is "say."

So LFF is trying out to be an announcer for the Sox Spring Training? And he's called how many games in his life? I don't fault him for trying, and it could make for good Failcast fodder if they don't fuck it up. But truth is there are hundreds of guys who do this for farm teams, including the Sox farm teams, who are infinitely more qualified than LFF.

The speculation on their cash intake has been brought up over and over. They get a small amount for their weekly bonus-show, but how do they make money from Apple, or anyone else for a free show? They get a small amount from Amazon for each purchase, and for the amount of traffic they bring to the website off the link. They get money for the small amount of sponsors they have. in the end, the money is split five ways, so, at night, when Rob(b) comes home with maybe $100 a month, I don't think he's really feeling good about himself.

O'Meara trying out for the Red Sox Spring Training announcer job seems like a good gig. I know he'll blow it at the end and do something stupid to not get it, but if all he has to do is read off the names of the next guy at bat and an occassional commercial, he can do that fine. As a lifelong Sox fan I am sure it's an enticing proposition, except he doesn't live in FLA and would have to commute for gigs once Spring Training is over. I guess that morning announcement job at the retirement home is closer to being reality.

I guess the question is, is he doing the announcements at the stadium, or radio play by play. If it's the latter, he is grossly unqualified. If it is the former, I can't imagine they pay much for that gig.

A much better gig would have been developing whatever it would have take to stay @ JFK after the flip to all sports talk.

O'Meara ain't an elite af-a-lete, but God knows he'd be a better match with Dukes than Lavar is.

The Red Sox website indicates there will be about 16 or so spring training home games. If the pay were $100/game, it wouldn't pay O'Meara's March bar tabs.

I dunno, maybe O'Meara is angling for a New England sports gig and figures this is a way to get his foot in the door.

It seems most of O'Meara's career decisions are driven by vanity (JFK solo gig, Red Sox) or desperation (janitor's job @ VRX), so I don't expect there's a 'master plan' in play here...

You would think there has to be some retired Boston-area broadcasters down there that the crowd would actually know. Why the fuck would the BoSox hire a clown like LFF for anything?

Excellent point. The answer is (IMHO) O'Meara's titanic sense of entitlement. Because he goes to Red Sox spring training games and gets drunk, he thinks that his Sox loyalty, plus his fame and over-the-top talent qualifies for the job.

It's the same delusion that makes him think hordes of fans will follow him 70 miles to some dirt-ball golf course for the 'honor' of being in his regal presence.

O'Meara is many things, first and foremost: A Clown.

It would be a significant improvement for LFF to be a clown.

Saying OMeara would be better than Lavar on the air is hardly a compliment. I'd rather hear the emergency broadcast system for 5 hours than hear Lavar try and articulate points and form sentences.

What's really sick is that, in this market, Lavar will stay on the radio. Why? Because he's an old Redskin. If you ever wore the jersey, it's like a lifetime full-employment deal. Imagine if he could talk.

If O'Meara had actually tried to do a sports related talk show (as much as the Junkies are a sports related talk show) and make some changes (getting rid of Rob for example), he may have stayed on JFK. That's a fairly big leap, I know, but if had actually tried, he may not have been fired outright.

Mike likes being King Shit of Turd Mountain. If he doesn't have Rob(b), and Buzz, and the other nitwits, what is he?

Just a fat failed old deejay. And he'll never admit that's what he is. He'd rather be in charge of the failcast than be on a successful show as the second (or third) banana.

oh come on, LFF doesn't know shit about sports he hates basketball, follows pro football casually like a lot of barflies, doesn't know shit about college football, probably couldn't name more than one player, if that, on most major league baseball teams

his knowledge seems limited to boston red sox and washington capitols and being a practioner of bandwagonism he jumps off that ship when things start going bad

he'd suck big time at sports

but wait maybe lff could get a job for a minor league team in florida and hell rob(b) could tag a long and try and get a similar job. have you all forgotten his announcing work for the Dreadskins? i believe the butler is originally from florida

lff take that weekend job at WAVV and start working up the ladder at an easy listening station in south florida and face your new life out of the limelite despite your continual efforts to stay in it... it's over in d.c. and the kids are almost college age

lavar remains cause some big shot at CBS Radio in new york loves him. hell might be some fellow penn state alum. plus now that wjfk is in p.g. county i'd bet cbs radio is going for the black audience
actually i think lavart speaks in sentences just run on sentences that go on and on and on and on (watch it)

True. But does Chad know anything unless it's the Skins or UFC? I give Lavar some credit for trying to understand hockey enough to have a semi-informed discussion about it. Dukes fallback is to throw out stupid shit like, "Should Leonsis rebuild the Cap Centre in Landover? Would that make the Capitals a contender?"

Can't disagree with anything you say. It occurs to me that when CBS fired O'Meara he was let go by a national broadcasting company. No one at CBS thought O'Meara was worth salvaging so he was done.

That's a pretty damning assessment of the man's talent level when you see what JFK/CBS airs now - the Junkies, Wise and Dukes/Lavar all of whom combined probably don't have as much on air experience as O'Meara.

O'Meara as has been noted here many, many times didn't grow or evolve in his career, he let Don do the heavy lifting, benefited from the money during the heydays of D&M and probably thought it would never end.

Now el LFF occupies his days with a pathetic podcast and planning for the Big Duff III.

It's great, that karma thing...
