LOL. That's gross and to be honest a little surprising, given the cameras and the fact that you can usually see what they are doing in the kitchen at most McDonald's.

One time we ordered take out from Panera Bread at work and when the food showed up my buddy's sandwich had one of those clear plastic gloves in it, LOL. And I consider Panera to be a generally clean chain.

My favorite is when they throw the receipts on top of the food. It's not nasty like spit or gloves but it just shows how rushed and apathetic they are.

Blessed are the murderous.

There was a story on public radio a while back that said the ink used on receipts is pretty bad for you, causes cancer or something, and that when the receipt gets wet the ink comes off of it and onto your food or your fingers a lot easier. Since hearing that I am kind of OCD about receipts being next to my food.

Another dirty restaurant story: I was in a chain diner, Shoney's or some such craphole, and there was a guy at the buffet table grabbing all the peices of fried chicken with his fingers, examining each one and putting back the ones he didn't want. Since then I avoid buffets.

Any given restaurant on any given day will serve food with some spit in it. I never spit in anyone's food but it is quite common. If you are a patron with a condescending attitude the chances of getting spit food go sky high. Kitchen workers have ways of getting the spit where it is needed without anyone the wiser.
