Software you type it once and that's it. Are you using carbon paper or what?

Clearly you are unfamiliar with the technology, eesh. Radiophile didn't need to check each image out to add the watermark.

The young lady in the red is Jessica Ahlquist who who sued got her high school to remove a prayer from the cafeteria wall. A very impressive young lady.

The blonde hair guy at the piano is Tim Minchin, Musician, composer, songwriter, actor, comedian and writer.

The dark suit english looking guy is Eddie Izzard, who I thought was actually pretty funny.

Also there is Paul Provenza, Host and producer of The Green Room with Paul Provenza on Showtime and producer of the movie The Aristocrats (with Penn Jillette).

there is Indra Zuno Actress/Translator who gave her talk in Spanish. .

The guy in the hoodie is Jamie Kilstein
Comedian featured on Showtime, The Green Room, Conan, and Keith Olbermann. And Citizen Radio has been praised by such people as Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn, Peter Singer, Sarah Silverman, Rachel Maddow, etc.

Girl with the guitar is Shelley Segal
Australian singer/songwriter

The rapper is
Rational Warrior a.k.a Tombstone Da Deadman

I found it to be a mixed bag of speakers & entertainment. Some I liked, and some I didn't like- but that green hoodie guy was one of the most annoying. He wasn't funny and I thought he was an ass.

That being said, he probably doesn't think I'm going to hell for not agreeing with him.

The crowds looked massive. Looks like at least 200, maybe 300. I'm sure TheMeeper will be telling us it was millions and he couldn't get on the Metro before the week is out. Just out of curiosity, were there any good looking women there? Based on your pictures, it was all men who looked like women and women who looked like men.

Thanks for posting the pics btw. Nice to see there were more folks standing on the stage than there were in the audience listening to them.

Probably about 15-20k people. I didn't go until after lunch, but there were no lines at the metro stations. Unlike Glenn Beck morons, I do not have to make shit up and say ridiculous things about 1/2 million people being there. You are retarded, and probably a conservative christian, which explains it.

A flyover by the U.S. Park Police Helicopter estimated the crowd at 324.They further advised there were actually more people than that lined up at the hot dog roach coach illegally parked on Constitution Ave.

Based on similar sized concerts and events I've been to.

But I'm sure if Sean Hannity would've shown up to talk about Jesus, there would've been over 900,000 people!

Dont go hatin just because Meades pulls in a bigger audience. Next time try to draw in some hot chicks, that always get the crowds.

March for Life always draws a couple hundred thousand. Middle of winter, sometimes with snow on the ground. That story was on A6 in the WP this year and the only pictures they posted were from the pro-abortion counter march that had a about a hundred people. You are the minority Meeps. By a large number, you are the minority. Abolut 80% believe in God in this country. 80% are either conservative or moderate. As an atheist liberal, you represent the finge. Thus, the pity I have for you. You don't seem to understand how fringey your core values are. Sad.

Well a few centuries ago, 80% of the people thought the sun revolved around the earth. And, 80% of the people in Saudi Arabia think 'defaming the prophet' is a punishable crime.

What's the virtue of being in a majority if the thing you all believe in is stupid?

When we see a Meade video, it is one video and probably labeled with its purpose. You have posted nothing more useful than a wall of text, just an unlabeled stream of pics. I'm sure there are plenty of Web sites that have a left-right arrow to click through pictures of the event instead of an endless scrolling mess.

Your thread title is equally useless. Today is the 25th and this happened YESTERDAY, not today. Put a date in there next time.

That said, it isn't any more useless than any other thread in Off Topic, so thank you at least for getting the forum right and posting in Off Topic assuming that is what you did originally and Cary didn't move it here.

Yup. You pray to an all-mighty god who loves you, who listens to your prayers and intervenes with reality to give you strength, and he'll grant you eternal rewards in heaven for being a good, conservative Republican.

Yup. No delusions of self-grandeur in that logic!

Evidence of a creator is in the eye of the beholder. Disprove something in the Bible and perhaps you'll have something. Otherwise, your comet created life theory and your entire universe came from a tablespoon of dense matter/big bang theory is about as plausible as what exactly?

it's called "reality".

faith provides no means to discover truth.

There are literally mountains of scientific evidence to support the Big Bang event. We can observe its remnants.

There is literally zero evidence that the universe was created by a god named Yahweh over the course of six days. Absolutely none whatsoever.

Which begs the question where did it call come from in the first place? You suggest it was all the result of a huge explosion of matter. So how did the matter come to be in the first place?

I am a Christian. I have never in my life tried to get anyone to convert. I think the Ten Commnandments are good to live by such as not bearing false witness, not coveting others property, not stealing and not killing.

I do not care for television preachers who constantly beg for money, I have seen the lavish lifestyle they live. I have no use for them. If someone is Islamic or Jewish thats fine, I have many friends of many different religions, we get along fine. They never try to run down my religion I dont run theirs down, to each his own.

I also find that Westboro Church as repugnant as everyone else. They have no idea what a true Christian is.

That's something science is trying to answer. Quantum mechanics, the Large Hadron Collider, etc.

Religion has done absolutely nothing at all to answer those questions. Religion just pretends to already know the answer. No thought, no discovery, no evidence required.

Sure. Mountains and mountains. LOL The best evidence was that the universe was thought to be expanding at a constant rate. This would indicate a point of origin and an event that caused it to start expanding. Recently, we've found that the universe is not expanding at a constant rate. In fact, some parts of the universe are now known to be contracting. And entire line of scientific theory has been thrown out. Perhaps you should read something that wasn't written in the 1970's.

The humanists ignore their own laws of nature when it doesn't suite their religious doctrine of themselves being the end all of existence. Something can not come from nothing. The laws of Thermodynamics do not support evolution theory. There are threads upon threads on this board on this back and forth. In the end, the humanists ignore logic to cling to science.

A paper proving the Big Bang is inaccurate would be a watershed moment in the history of astrophysics.

It would be a discovery worthy of the Nobel Prize, and scientists would welcome it with open minds.

Let's see it. Science demands that you explain and defend your ideas. "Throwing out an entire line of science" demands even more proof, and more evidence. Let's see it.

Nobel Prizes must be earned. They are not just given away to suit an agenda. Ya know?

Sheesh, why are the religious people on this thread so angry at the idea of Atheists gathering for an event? They never complain when Christians have an event, but when Atheists do the same they start nashing their teeth. I think they are just nervous because they know that they can't prove that their god even exists and more and more people are starting to figure that out. You can't keep the wool over the eyes of the population forever!

You mean like how open minded they are about man made Global Warming and what a shame that is or how the hole in the Ozone was going to be the end of our existence because we made it and it was expanding?

Well the hole in the ozone layer could have meant the end of existence of at least a continent.

The hole in the ozone layer is so big over Australia that the skin cancer rates would be beyond epidemic if "smarter people" did not take action. Every child on that continent is taught to "Slip Slap Slop" as soon as they can talk.

Before going outside:
Slip on a tee shirt
Slap on a hat
Slop on sun screen.

I can only imagine if it were that bad here. People like you would dispel this and send your child to the beach with only a bathing suit because you would rather your kid die or be painfully disfigured with skin cancer than to listen to anyone smarter than you.

Because you do not know something (ignorance), it must not be true. And you spout off your ignorance like a badge of honor.

The person who is certain, and who claims divine warrant for his certainty, belongs now to the infancy of our species. It may be a long farewell, but it has begun and, like all farewells, should not be protracted.

It is so sad that you follow the 10 commandments not because you are a good person, but because you are tempted by a reward (heaven) if you do and a punishment (hell) if you do not.

Some people are "good" without God or fear of God's smite if they are not good.

I feel bad for you that you have to have something like that hanging over your head to be "good".

Now tell your wife and mother to shut up in church and goo ahead and lead a christian life.

In all fairness, if you ever studied Jewish philosophy I think you'd feel much differently. You need to at least be open minded, give things a chance.

He said he was a Christian. He (you) did not say he (you) are a Christian who stuidies Jewish Philosophy (about killing Jesus).

A good way to look at things:

Would you welcome Jesus into your home if He were outside knocking on your front door?

Well the good news is that He is out there knocking right now. You just need to open your heart and listen for that knocking. Invite Him in and share in His message of love.

And if I told you I tried and he was not there? And if I told you that you are imagining things.

Imagining someone is knocking on your door when no one is there is a sign of a mental illness.

Anyone who went to this convention of fools is deserving of mockery and ridicule. They are a buch of sheep being told how to think and act.

They are no different than those that cram into a house of worship on Saturdays/Sundays.

If you did not find Him there, you weren't looking. Your soul is broken, like all atheists. You have lost the connection that the soul provides to the Creator. So you fill your empty soul with worldly things. Like lungs need air, the soul needs fulfillment. You can not attain truth unless you seek to fill your soul with the Word. You are lost. Seek, and you shall find. Otherwise, you will remain lost for eternity.

Coming from the guy who believes that "smarter people" patched the "hole".

Someone really doesnt pay attention to the fact that the hole was never as big as thought, wasnt expanding as thought, and the earth repairs itself.

The only one spouting ignorance like a badge of honor is you. How many man made scientific disasters have to be proven false before you let go of that crap? The liberal scientists dream is to figure out that we are all going to die because we ruined the planet, the same planet thats been hit by several large comets and is fine..........

I also see you completely ignored the fact that global warming is a bunch of made up liberal bs too

First, I must say that I am a follower of the living Messiah, Jesus Christ, a son of God, and filled with the Holy Spirit.

I wish I could turn your heart toward Jesus because you don't know what your missing because you never met God personally and so you have preconceived ideas about what He's like or what He does because of what you've been told and therefore want nothing to do with him.

I dont know what was funnier how dumb the signs were or the fact that in most of the pictures it was clearly just a single person with people walking around the mall around them that had nothing to do with why they were there.

They want to tell everyone else what to believe and why.......as long as it doesn't endanger them in any way shape or form.

FYI, muslims believe that Jesus was an prophet sent by god, and believe in the miraculous story of his birth from the womb of the virgin Mary. Jesus is mentioned more times by name in the Koran than Mohammed. They also believe in the creation narrative of the garden of eve, and all of the Moses stories.

In other words, christians believe in a whole lot of the same silly crap muslims & jews believe in.

+1 They'll sit behind the keyboard in what they hope is anonymity and post shit about Islam and Allah. But you never see them carry signs or say anything in public. Scared little babies. They know Christians won't kill them, blow up their houses or cut off their testicles. Pussies.

first off, allah is the same god that christians worship. disbelief in a judeo-christian god also includes disbelief in the god of the islam faith. it's all the same thing. anyone carrying a sign offensive to the christian version of god would equally offend muslims and jews.

there weren't any muslims protesting the event. no jews either. nor were there any Hindus or Buddhists protesting the rally. maybe they're more accepting of a secular society? could be...

because the only religion out protesting that day were Christians. That's why you only saw criticism of christianity. It wouldn't make sense to bring an anti-Islam sign to an event where muslim protestors weren't present.

Oh yea muslims are very tolerant of non believers just look at the middle east.

What you were meaning to say is they didnt want to offend the muslims who they fear would have retaliated and it doesnt fit with their liberal ideology to attack anything other than Christians

There were at least two speakers - including Taslima Nasrin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taslima_Nasrin), exiled from her country for speaking out against Island - at the rally who actively spoke out specifically against Islam in particular, so all the people saying "WHY ARE ONLY CHRISTIANS BEING ATTACKED" are...well, wrong. Just sayin

I'm atheist as well, but having an "Hey look, we're atheist. Don't you wanna try it too?" rally is as bad as someone pushing their religion on you.

These things are opinions, nothing more, as no one is able to definitively prove one way or another. Sure, sounds kinda ridiculous, but you never know. However, these opinions do not need a "rally" to go with them, especially when most attendees look like fucking cutters and/or lunatics. Eddie Izzard and the Myth Busters guy. Ok. Stop there. The long haired ginger with the eye liner, we don't need him. The dirty hippy chick that looks like something out of Princess Bride, keep it. Don't need it either. I'm certain just by looking at them that their opinions don't matter to me, nor do they help to further any sort of "cause".

Any why does everything...EVERYTHING need some sort of rally at this point? Can we maybe have a rally to end all rallies? An anti-rally, rally?

lol, yeah well it sounds ridiculous because it is ridiculous, and it leaves little doubt that whoever wrote this is a religious apologist. No one with an inkling of skepticism would write that. I didn't see every speaker and doubt any were up there to proselytize people with the absurd subject you (or some of the other posters here) mention.

Based on the criticisms I've read here I suspect that most, if not all, are written by conservative voters. Despite the range of topics presented on Saturday, from science to comedy, the one identifiable theme throughout was secularism and the need for separation of church and state. That is where this criticism stems from. The base of the Republican party, evangelical conservative christians, have been interjecting faith into the political realm for the past few decades and show little regard for 'separation of church and state'. Just look at their presidential candidates. The bitter comments about muslims not being a target, that alone should tell you who is behind this.

So while this was not a political event, the subject matter does strike a chord with the far right wing of the Republican party. This isn't about Christians being offended, it's about the typical FoxNews-watching republican base getting angry at their political opponents.

If so, and I highly doubt it based on your comments, why?

Again, you weren't there and have no idea what the point of this event was.

An atheist, ladies and gentlemen! LOL! An atheist that claims that religion "sounds kinda ridiculous", but then says "You never know". Then uses the proof argument, as if to say there's an equal amount for both views.

You're not fooling anyone, sorry.

While I will agree the talent at this event was not great, or even good, I believe its because most people in that business are not ready to be outed as atheists in a predominant theist land.

Rallies are about correcting policies, sociological and/or political by getting large enough groups of people together to show they're serious. Been happening for thousands of years. Why does it bother you? How does this effect you?
