It's about a post-apocalyptic world where people are forced by an authoritarian regime to compete in death games. It's been done a million times before, but The Hunger Games is geared towards teens and young adults who have never heard of Mad Max, Logan's Run, 1984, A Handmaid's Tale, etc, etc.

In my house, the release of this movie may end up being single most important event for the year. I don't get it, but then again I'm not a pre-teen girl.

I haven't read the books but I've heard its WAY better than that Twilight crap.

And I have to admit the trailer is pretty good.

I just finished the first book - I liked it too. Arnie's movie was "The Running Man"..pretty close to the book, but different.
I can't help think that since the book was such an easy and enjoyable read, the movie will be a disaster.

I think this was a major gaffe on the studio and her part - prior to the first week or so of the movie being out she should have remained "in character" - a relatively-naive 15 year old with dark hair.

Strutting her (new?) boobs and bleaching her hair color just seems wrong to this viewer.

Pretty sure the boobs aren't new. She had them for X-Men First Class and they looked real (covered in blue paint, but still) to me.
