The dude had a number one song a few months ago. I wouldn't call that career dead.

Where? In Lithuania? Even by the standards of the crappy AC chart, he hasn't had a #1 in a decade and a half...

Long Hot Summer reached #1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs in October '11. It even appeared on the Regular Billboard Charts the same week.

Richard Marx is an extremely talented songwriter and gifted singer. His career is very much alive. I think you should do a little more research before you make statements like that. He has had hits in every one of the past four decades. He even won a Grammy for song of the year with Luther Vandross in 2004. He single "When you loved me" was in the top 40 in 2011. FYI he writes songs for other artists in lots of genres, not just Country. He has always defined himself as a songwriter first and foremost.

Richard Marx's career is not dead!!! Did you not know that "When You Loved Me" went to number 16 on the AC charts in 2011? And I believe "Christmas Spirit" went to number 26. That is a original song, not a remix of an old classic like so many others who charted recorded. BLond_cleopatra made some valid points that shouldn't have been dismissed as hinging on his looks. If he was all looks and no talent he wouldn't have gotten a Grammy for "Dance With My Father" in 2004. He is cowriting songs now for the likes of Daughtry, Vertical Horizon and Lifenouse not just country. He is so much more than a pretty face. He has a golden voice and lyrics that surpass all other artists in my opinion. He has never put his looks out there as more important than the music. He doesn't rely on gimmicks, trashy news or crazy props like so many artists do and have done in order to create and maintain a career. He is sheer class. And if follow his career you would know he is still doing solo shows that are winning fans all over the world, including males. You should catch a show and then see what you think. And by the way he only had a mullet for a year and a half when everyone else in the business, including many famous people, were sporting one as well.

I have studied music for years and when you are a singer , either professionally or in Church, School etc. you learn to appreciate great vocals. What I admire most about Richard Marx is that he can sing with an acoustic guitar or even a cappella live and sound as good if not better than studio versions of his songs unlike most artists today. Have you ever bought a CD and then when you saw that artist live were extremely disappointed because they sounded nothing like the studio version? That is not what you get when you go to a Richard Marx concert. A lot of people only know him for ballads but he has a lot of more upbeat songs as well.
As far as liking Richard for his looks, yes he is an attractive man but what makes him sexy by far is his voice.

@ Dear Dear Dear.....Richard's sexy but to be honest I prefer the David Boreanaz type as far as looks...Tall and Buff
