How do you treat a canker on inner lip?

I get this one big white canker on inner lip. I've tried commercial stuff, but it works poorly. This one is situated in a area where when I'm chewing, it gets scissored sending bolts of pain through my ears. Any remedies you suggest?

A few possible remedies:
Combine 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon baking soda and 2 ounces hydrogen peroxide. Mix and rinse your mouth with it four times daily. Dilute with 2 ounces water if it's too potent for you. Or just rinse your mouth with lukewarm salt water.
Mix equal amounts of Milk of Magnesia or Kaopectate and Benylin or Benadryl. MOM and Kao both contain stuff to coat wet tissues in the mouth. Benylin and Benadryl contain ingredients that act as mild topical anesthetics and antihistamines (which reduce inflammation).
Apply to canker sore with a cotton swab. Don't swallow the stuff; you could end up numbing the reflex that keeps the windpipe closed when you swallow.
Cayenne contains capsaicin, a constituent that temporarily desensitizes the nerves that cause pain. Put some directly on the sore.
Another way is to use a styptic pencil. On a canker sore, it will numb the nerve endings, temporarily reducing the pain.
Ironically, while a canker sore hurts and stings, a painless ulcer in the mouth may be the first sign of oral cancer. And while a canker sore will usually disappear in seven to ten days, a cancerous lesion will not. If you've got a sore that doesn't go away, see your dentist, even if it doesn't bother you.
