The DC area attracts some of the most pretentious people

They aren't even snobs because they have nothing to back up the attitudes they have. Just pretentious. I'd take people with camaro's up on blocks any day over the shit here.

Hey eyes wide slut, stfu with that bull shit. We are pretentious cause we are better than you and the rest of moronic "main street usa" or whatever its called. Yes education makes us better; yes money makes us better; and besides, running a country ain't easy.

You'd rather take the "Camero on blocks folk??" well news flash, those people and yourself are what's wrong with America.

The most rational reason to despise DC is that the most powerful people there are really patsies for truly powerful interests who use them for a buck while paying them pennies.

Even the most powerful in DC are really just hired help for the truly powerful.

It is because they are supposed to represent the interests of their constituents but instead routinely sell them out for peanuts that you should utterly despise DC and its inhabitants.

Lived in DC for 18 years. I've never experienced the sort of pretentious douchebagggary nonsense that occurs there anywhere else in the world, except for maybe Rome or Paris.

The earlier poster has it right, there are so many assholes but with nothing to back up the play. Lots of young people drive BMW's, lots of high end clothing buying, lots of trying to get your kids into the right neighborhood so they can get into the right school so they can tell their friends that "my kid was accepted to UVA" or "my kid was accepted to Georgetown" etc.

They're the type of nosy busy bodies who call the police if your dog shits in their yard and you don't clean it up, claiming "assault". The're the type of loud mouthed idiots who wear the pointed shoes, put gel in their hair and wear slacks to everything, who only order the tofu and water in order to keep up the appearance of being "healthy" in front of their peers. Nothing says you're in control like ordering a salad when everyone else is ordering a double cheeseburger, it makes a statement to go along with your DKNY outfit and your leased BMW parked out front. Conversation always revolves around "i'm in graduate school" or "where did you go to college", as if any of this matters, but they need to know where they fit in the hierarchy.

Yes, DC is filled to the brim with idiots, douchebags, and people with fairly well off parents (not rich) who try to keep up the appearance of being better than you.

I can't help it but I have to do this. "She's changing her name, from Kittie to Karen, she traded her MG for a white, Chrysler LeBarron."

Why would you want to rein in that impulse?

I want a girl
Who gets up early
I want a girl
Who stays up late

I want a girl
With uninterupted prosperity
Who uses a machete
To cut through red tape

With fingernails
That shine like justice
And a voice that is dark
Like tinted glass

She is fast and thorough
And sharp as a tack
She's touring the facility
And picking up slack

I want a girl with a short skirt and a long.... long jacket

Nah, nah, nah, nah…nah, nah, nah

Try living around those small town hicks and white trash retards for a year or two and you'll be dying to come back here. They're just as pretentious as the folks you find here, but for the worst possible reasons.

Liberal areas like D.C. tend to be heavily sissified. They also have professional whiners. Like the handicapped assholes going around trying to find ADA violations then sue the place, even though they have no desire to be customers.. People are assholes and liberal areas have higher concentrations of assholes.

Kind of going along with this theme, I think "southern hospitality" is a crock of shit. No such thing. I'm white and when I'm in the deep south people in stores look at me and treat me like I have 5 heads and am speaking Chinese. What gives with that, Id hate to be black and around there?

So as I was saying.. Nothing like that ever happens in more northern "liberal" "pretentious" cities. Id even say that people in cities are even nicer than country hicks.

I don't know, that's my point.. Southern hospitality doesn't exist, even for an average white guy.

Maybe its cuz I'm not from their shitty town and they don't recognize me? Maybe they just have a slack jawed staring problem? Maybe its because I wear them fancy tight city jeans? (honestly they probably think I'm some queer kid by the way I'm dressed)

I've met quite a few "Urban Hicks" since moving here. Put them
in the country and they'd be like fish out of water. I know one
DC native who was unable to distinguish a bull from a cow when
he was driving through Front Royal farm land once. Oh yeah, he's
really been around. :)

Just come out of the closet and admit you are GAY and that you get all of your fashion ideas from the 1980s record album covers.

And jbalo is also a real lady. Kittie does not have a kitty. Kittie stands to pee and has slapped his balls against a pair of ass cheeks at some point in time.

You're a fag, aren't you. That's why you get those looks. We Southerners can spot a fag anywhere and at any time.

Based on the way you talk, I'm guessing you're not much of a lady yourself. Just saying.

How does stealing and ripping off your fashion ideas from the 1980s make you look any better?

In the end you end up looking like nothing but a bunch of unoriginal faggots.

I stopped dressing like that in 1990. You should too.

I wasn't talking about the way they dress.

But anyways.. Thinking about it, maybe I'm not all that different than a hick, just better looking, better paid, and better educated.

Some similarities - today I woke up at noon and put on my little jeans and a dirty white tee to go down to the corner store to get some PBR. Its such a nice day. No need to shower, my armpits only slightly smell like. onion rings. Ain't that how hicks live?

hey frisky,

my cousant kept getting prank calls from some number down south (from caller ID) and when he answered the phone someone with a southern accent kept shouting "The Big Tit Adventures of Doctor Fellatio" into the phone real loud. They are 100% loser/low-class people. Disgusting w/ no manners.

DC is a Southern city, but the people that live here are uptight about that. And they cringe at going into the Virginia "burbs". Everyone here has a terrible attitude. Im originally from Atlanta, though, and ironically, the culture and attitude is awfully similar. Plus you have to drive all day long in the metro to get anywhere.

Your're an idiot. DC is a loser city, and its a wannabee Northern city that is in the South! Virginia people in Northern Virginia and they say "oh no, I dont have an accent!". Yeah, right. Im originally from Conn/NYC area, and people down here trying to act like they are some Northeastern elitist city. They panic at the mention of the word "snow". Inner DC is a dump and the only nice part is NW DC. Northern Virginia people drive slow and they don't even know how to drive in snow.

You must be a Mex. Isn't that the area where people saw Jesus in a Billboard or something a few years ago?

Why do people think "hicks" are a Southern thing? Ive met so many from all over- Canada, Idaho, Illinois, New England, New York, Ohio, Indiana, NJ, PA, etc. Rural vs Urban has nothing do with South

In many Southern cities, things are snobby because of old money and ties to Blue blood England, they wont give you the time of day. In the North, you can be a self made man- you can have a name like Jo Pszekolio or something and nobody cares. In the South, names, what country club you belong to, and who your family are is big stuff. Richmond, Charleston, Savannah, Mobile, your average Joe would never be accepted in those upper circles.

Do you live in the actual city of Washington, DC or "NOVA", because if its the latter, you have no room to talk. You are a hick, IMO.

Gone from there is correct. Not just correct, dead on. And you Frisky, are showing yourself to be exactly the type people they were talking about.

A new age over-educated fool with very little sense of history on any scale.

Perhaps you can explain to the class how you deduced that the poster "hated the 90's"? Further, write us an essay on what difference that hatred makes towards their argument.

To the OP...those that you speak of are just renting. Eventually they'll go back to their "best state in the union." Unfortunately, they'll be replaced by a completely different group of phonies. Had we not made this area (which most of the posters here admit to hating) so nice and welcoming, they'd all be living in an over taxed shit hole like PG County.

Don't sweat the small stuff Kittie. Frisky is looking for a date. This is just his way of getting you to send him a picture. BTYB has been suckered in by his charm and has unwittingly fallen in as his accomplice.

I've only seen this happen once ever, last month those two sisters had their neighbor arrested in Fairfax city.

Now we're getting to that wired 90's shit I was talking about..
Pointed shoes and gel? Who uses gel these days.. C'mon.

Tofu - so 90's.
Its organic now.

Alias is definitely a female, and the four different fathers of her children can testify that she is all woman.

What's with women and cars? Motor vehicles are like the last remaining "glass ceiling"

Alias is an incomplete female.

Women have finally "broke through the glass ceiling," the seeable, yet unattainable goals in life for women of the past. Like mastering the workplace, the college, other stuff. But why can't they still work cars right?

It all depends on the person. FD, I know plenty of men who can barely start their cars. And I know a few women who do all the maintenance on theirs. Personally, I've changed alternators, radiators, brakes, oil, water pumps, and several other items over the years. It's not difficult. But some men really don't like women who do that kind of stuff, and society as a whole seems to encourage women to avoid/dislike it as well.

You're awesome! I changed my oil for the first time recently under a friend's guidance, I was so proud of myself.

This thread is HILARIOUS!

Washington, DC is a Southern Country town, and its inhabitants are mostly either NE yokels, or people from small towns across the south who came to experience the city life. The DC Metro is a melting pot of people from all over the world. Northeast liberals, Old School Blue Blooded Virginians, Deep South Southerners, people with little education, people with high education, people with little money, people with a lot of money! That is what makes this region so great.

I have met people from many walks of life around the DC area. True, you run into a few pretentious a-holes every now and then, but they aren't the majority. Most people here are friendly, hard working, and family type people.

If DC is a pretentious wasteland, then what about Southern California, or Martha's Vineyard, or Manhattan? DC is like Mayberry compared to those places.

The Scientific Dictatorship requires cadres of psychopaths and sociopaths of the highest quality. Some enclaves of the U.S. government have spent decades recruiting and cultivating specialized cadres of soulless operatives.

Treason, tyranny, malfeasance, crony capitalism, and endless lies require people with very high, but narrow, levels of intelligence to manage the incarnation of Oceania.

I have lived near D.C. my whole life and I agree--too many people worried about what they drive, how big their house is and how expensive their clothes are. They call people in the surrounding area redneck but then drive from DC out to my town to get clothing like Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger and Izod on the cheap at our local outlets. Then they drive back into the city and pretend like they paid full price for them! They actually come out by the bus load. LOL! People are rude, honk their horns at everything that moves and won't give you the time of day unless you're wearing the right clothes.

Like I said, I've lived in the DC/Metro area my entire life so I know what I'm talking about.

The OP has it dead on. The largest most pretentious (yes vapid) group of empty suits I've ever seen in one place. It truly is a unique place, mostly because of that.

WRONG. I've lived in 12 states and three coutries, including in DC, nothern VA and Maryland. The DC metro area, especially NOVA have the highest concentration of assholes in the country and possibly the world.
