Back when I was 20-21 i used to drink vodka and cranberry lol. So pedestrian. No wonder I was throwing up every weekend.

In honor of George Orwell and his epic dystopian novel, "1984," I've been experimenting with a drink favored by the character, Winston Smith. A truly awful drink described in the novel and is the specialty of the Chestnut Cafe. I call this drink, "Big Brother." A drink that perfectly fits the times.

Cheap gin - the cheapest gin you can buy.
Cloves - ground cloves are put in an empty teabag and the gin strained through it.
Saccharine - (Sweet n Low)

I'm still trying different amounts of cloves and Sweet n Low, since the novel doesn't go into that kind of detail. Cutting it with club soda or tonic water makes it easier to handle. I call that variation, "O'Brien," after the Inner Party member who befriended and, then later, tortured Winston to make him "perfect."

The only time to drink this concoction is when reading Orwell's 1984.

Back in the day it was a whiskey sour. Used to throw back one after the other. Old age, fear of DUI and just being a pussy in general I no longer drink them.
