Why is everyone defending joe paterno?
Posted by: Patterned ()

So if Joe paterno really did nothing in response to allegations of pimping out underage boys to rich business clients... Why is everyone so upset?

"need to heal" says the new coach. Like Paterno died or some bullshit?? The old man contributed to horrible crimes and people are so upset about their precious college football coach?? Seriously? Where the fuck are the values?

If he's guilty...kill him. Drag his body out in the streets and shoot him in the head. Leave his rotting body to serve as an example for all others not to follow his path.

What a disgrace....

Were the kids all negroes? One of the kids had wet hair when he got home from being molested so I figured he was a white kid. Negro hair dries almost instantly doesn't it?

Look at this awful statement from the front page of the Second Mile's website. It's basically an admission that they had credible reports of this at least 10 years ago. Even after they knew of the grand jury's investigation (which their own ExecDir testified for,) they only removed Sandusky from contact "with kids." They still used his name to raise money...

Time to shut it down!

At first you felt kinda bad for the players since it was their coaches and not them that did this, but then you see how all the students have been acting and realize theres almost a cult like thing happening up there and its impossible not to want them to lose. Kids that riot in support of child molestation dont deserve to be able to celebrate from the football team

He'll be facing some sort of charges within the next 6 - 12 months. Rightfully so many people are already comparing this to the whole church scandel. Not that it will matter or help but Penn State and the authorities will go after everyone involved at some level at least demonstrate " Hey this is different. we screwed up the first time ( they did ) now were going to correct that . He's deffinately looking at jail time at some point. If he doesn't Penn State will never recover. Nobody should kid them selves theirs a lot of high power people that came out of Penn State that will ensure that he is held accountable ( he should and will be ). Just give it some time.

I support the old man. After all he isn't the guy who witnessed it happening, left called his dad and asked what he should do in stead of stepping up and kicking sanduski's ass. He did what all great politians do he passed the buck and got out of the way.

Students were not rioting because of this it is because the media is not telling the whole story and making JoPa out to be the bad guy. He didn't lie, he passed the buck and was honest about that in front of the grand jury. I doubt that Joe will see any jail time but I bet this will kill him inside 18 months

Right hes just the guy who allowed it to happen over a decade because he didnt want his program to get negative attention. Its one of his coaches he hired yes he has a responsibility to follow up on the accusations. At the very least he should have had him banned from using any football facilities again. This isnt a cover up over someone stealing money or paying athletes, its over KIDS BEING RAPED.

Penn State needs to cancel their football season for at least 5 years and clear out all the people currently involved in their program.

Because if they don't, PED State is a name that's going to stick.

Agreed. Let the kids transfer with no penalty and start from scratch in a few years. Hopefully some of the powerful grads of the school will step up and put some pressure on them to start worrying about the university reputation and not just football. The school book store is still selling Sandusky's book called "Touched".

Plus after how the students have acted through out all of this they dont deserve to have a football team

I saw some fat sweaty pig that was a Penn State fan on tv. She said Paterno was her hero and he only had a brief laspe in judgement. The guy should be in jail for not reporting it to the police.
How can anyone defend Paterno or any of the Penn State admin who let this happen.

Then you have the punks who go there turning over cars and fighting with the police to defend him as well. Screw Penn State I hope they lose every game for the next twenty years.

The PSU student body started the first pro child molestation riot in history.

I don't get the hero worship for coaches either. Here's the thing: football revolves around a limited skill set: running, throwing, catching, kicking, tackling, blocking. That's it. The way you get good at it is by practicing those things. So as long as you have someone that makes players practice those skills, that's all the coach can do. The difference between a "good" coach and a "bad" one is that the bad one will let the players talk him out of spending a lot of time practicing and the good one will force them to keep going.

It's an easy job; anyone can do it. It should pay like $10/hour. You're nothing but a manager, really, just telling guys "OK, go run around the field for the next half hour."

Coaches do squat.

Thats not really true. However, I dont care if you go undefeated for 40 years and win a national championship every year, if you look the other way or allow someone to stay that rapes children you have to go period.

Agreed, its not like one of his flunkies came in and said "hey boss,I saw someone back into a car in the parking lot and take off" You would think something like a heinious felony would warrant a little follow up on his part. Quit playing the part of the old forgetful guy and own up to what you didnt do.

The old forgetful guy act doesnt really work when the allegations started in 1998

Question what did Joe P do that was against the law according to everyone that wants him hung? My understanding he did not witness the acts, he told his bosses and did not lie. That is my understanding I have not read everythig on this event.
I feel sorry the kids and those convicted of crimes should go to jail no question asked!!!!
I know people are not going to be happy with my post. but what if your friend is a drunk and still drives, and one day is at fault in a fatal accident. Should you go to jail?
If I am wrong about Joe P involvements then I am sorry and I am not a PSU fan nor do I like to school at all.

He told his boss yes, but did not follow up at all. These allegations go back to 1998. He knew more than what is being let on as we keep finding out as time goes on. He allowed Sandusky to keep using PSU facilities. If youre Paterno and you say you want someone banned from campus or the football facilities theyd be banned. Instead he allowed him to keep using the facilities even as more and more things were witnessed over the years. Not to mention that there are very credible allegations that the school decided to cover up what had happened if Sandusky retired.

The fact is that he didnt do enough. You dont have to do something illegal to deserve to be fired for something that happened on your watch. Just like in the Navy if a captains sub hits the bottom his days of being in charge are over. The Gov of Pennsylvania and the head of the State police have both said he failed in his moral duty to follow up.

Its not like these were some allegations of steroid use or something. These were reports of 10 years olds being rapped and all he did was tell his boss and leave it at that?????????? Sorry you dont get off that easy. If Trussel had to leave over players getting free tattoos and Carrol was about to get demolished for the Reggie Bush thing, Paterno and PSU should be stripped of a football program for having 10 year olds rapped

NCAA needs to hand out the death penalty. I know it's typically used for eligibility and recruiting violations, but this is way more serious. And before anyone says that punishes players more than coaches, recruiting and eligibility violations are things that coaches do, not players, yet NCAA routinely hands down sanctions that effect players. Perhaps if the NCAA takes away the weekly worship, the Ped State cult can start to break down.

Also any NCAA sanction punishes players that had nothing to do with it and the offenders are usually gone by then. Just look at USC. Or when Memphis had its bball season nullified.

But I absolutely agree with you. At first I felt bad for the students ect, but once they had that riot essential in support of child rape they lost all sympathy from me. The school should be banned from having a team at the very least until all of this is figured out in the next two or three years

The coverage of this has been sickening to say the least. We need to seriously rethink our priorities in life from how this has been handled. Paterno is not a victim, the kids are. Just because someone wins a bunch of football games hes all of a sudden more important then kids who were raped?

Yes Paterno had a very good reputation up till this point, but having it ruined by this isnt a shame that his reputation was ruined, its a shame he didnt try and stop this from happening. Had he fired the coach immediately and banned him from campus he could have prevented a lot of this and saved face.

Has anyone actually taken the time to think if this was hidden for all of those years what else has he been hiding? Theres a very good chance Paterno is not the man ESPN has built him up to be

Still sorry for the victims but again I say mcqueary should be the guy that the public hates right now not paterno. He saw this happen, walked away called his dad and then talked to Paterno. Events prior to this there is no telling if Paterno knew but the blame should rest on the guy who witnessed this, did not stop it and did not bring it to light in 1998 when he witnessed it. His story has changed since the grand jury.
