I was called for jury duty. It was so boring I almost fell asleep.

I was called for jury duty. The courtroom was so dangerous I practically feared for my skin - "wood" paneling falling off the walls, including directly behind the jury box with sharp nails pointing in all directions. The jury room was full of taken-down paintings making it essentially impossible to move around.

Oh...and the trial itself was a joke. The prosecution actually ran out of things to say but said he reserved the right to call more witnesses (I didn't even know they could do that!). We were sent off to the jury room and called back shortly thereafter - the prosecution had agreed he had no case (*).

Since this was a felony case one has to wonder how it got as far as it did. The poor defendant, of course, ended up having to pay his defense lawyer even though the charge(s) were dropped.

----------

(*) The charge was embezzlement - the defendant was accused by his father of taking more cash directly from the business before it hit the books than his father authorized...yes, that sounds as if there is something WAY illegal going on besides embezzlement - I bet there was another trial or two scheduled for something other than embezzlement.
