I had all four pulled on a Friday when I was 19. They had to break two of them because they were so impacted. I played in a hockey tournament on Sunday, but everyone reacts differently.

Are they under the gum or fully erupted?

Just be put under and do not smoke. You will be fine. Dentistry has come a long way.

Which OS are you going to?

3 are under the gum and one is erupted and bugging the hell out of me. Going to an OS in Vienna. I can't wait for the left side of my face to stop throbbing!

If they are impacted or if the surgeon has to pull them out of the jaw bone it can apparently be quite painful.

Mine were straight pulls out of the gums and it was no big deal. Dentist numbed things up and pried those fuckers out. Could have gone to work the next day if I wanted to.

Sounds like you got it much worse though.

I had two impacted wizteeth... They had to surgically remove them... I opted out of general anesthetic because I wanted to "be there" for it...

The actual process was easy... the only problem I had was a "dry socket" in the hole where one of the "impacted" teeth was...

It just added a week to my recovery... still... pretty damn easy...

I've heard stories from tiny-mouthed people that they had to get their jawbone fractured in order to remove them...

That would probably suck...

Dentistry hurts when YOU wait to get get work done. I am sure it will go great but you have no one to blame but yourself. Stop being a wimp. You will live.

Now open wide and get out your wallet.

How come your parents never had them out when you were a teen? Teenagers do better since their gums heal faster.

They weren't an issue back then. The dentist only told me to get them out a few years ago, but I'm a stubborn bitch and have waited til it's absolutely necessary

4 impacted, 4 dry sockets afterwards. It was my first time under anesthesia and I woke up halfway through the procedure. They had also administered novacaine so, I didn't wake up in agonizing pain but it was very disorienting to wake up and then be put out again. I didn't have anything in my stomach as per their instructions however, in post-op I laid on the table on my side dry heaving convulsively on and off for 30 minutes.

To each his own? Well, that was my experience...

I also had a sedation issue, I didn't remember a thing, but, apparently they under sedated me, I woke up as they were extracting the last tooth and slugged the dentist.

He left that last tooth in. They also pumped me full of drugs and I didn't wake up till several hours later.

Enough with the bad dental stories. You will be fine if you go to a NON HMO dentist. Plus I would stick with a dentist who is from the US.

I do. Thanks. The issues with my wisdom teeth extraction were related to genetics. Oh...and questionable anesthesiology. And not my hygiene.

Cool story bro time...

I had one pulled without a problem. I was put under for the other three.

I tried to keep the wounds open so that they would drain/heal. I was cleaning them out with the syringe full of hydrogen peroxide and I was taking the antibiotics they presribed. I went back to the OS because one of them sealed up and got infected. The tech poked at it and couldn't open it and the xray showed a chunk of tooth left over from the surgery, so they scheduled me to go in and go under again.

They had a scheduling conflict and canceled the appointment. I didn't get a chance to go back in before I had to take a two-day long test in San Jose - where I was flying in from San Diego.

I was in the hotel and it was hurting bad, so I poked at it a bunch with that syringe. It exploded and actually hit the mirror on the wall. It was nasty. I used the syringe to push the peroxide in the rupture and it foamed out like crazy.

The best part is that it healed up on its own and I didn't have to go back in for another surgery. The worst part - $1500 of my own money (plus travel expenses) gone on a test partially because that mess was hurting and distracting me. I ended up passing it four months later.

Ugh... If that happens to me, I just may die. It sounds cool happening to someone else though. Things exploding on a body = awesome
