Depends on what kind of vacation...
Party vacation: Vegas
Beach vacation: Outer Banks
City vacation: LA
Mountain (outdoors) vacation: not really into this, although the desert southwest mesmerizes me

LA all the way. I stay at a resort called the Terraena right outside of the city. It's right off of the water, so you get the beach and the city.

That looks pretty cool. I never go down to Palos Verdes. Best deal in town is The Standard in West Hollywood, IMO. Great location.

terranea is real close to everything in the LA area, but the hills around it make it completely secluded. A bit pricey, but worth it.
