why do kids hate RC cola?

So my daughter had a sleepover last night. I bought chips, popcorn, veggie tray, pizzas and assorted soft drinks. Not one kid drank an RC. When I was a teenager we loved it, in college we used it as a mixer all the time.
My daughter told me RC stands for "really crappy".

It's because they've done a terrible job promoting themselves over the years. Most kids probably hate it because they've never heard of it. I grew up on RC and Double Cola, but my kids probably have no fucking idea what they are.

I agree that it's like a flatter Pepsi. Even when it was more popular it always seemed to be at independent convenience stores and hole-in-the-wall restaurants.
Even looking at that photo of the RC machine, I have to wonder which laundromat or repair shop that was taken at.

RC is now marketed mainly in rednecky areas. Drive through West Virginia and there is an RC sign at every store and gas station. My grandfather used to buy RC in the tall bottles back in the day. Might not be the best cola, but all cola tastes better in a glass bottle on a hot summer day. I prefer Coke myself.

I can drink RC Cola without realizing I'm drinking RC Cola. I didn't even know they sell it around here. There are whole towns in the mid-west that serve/retail RC Cola exclusively.

My opinion, ultimately it boils down, like most things to lousy marketing. All through Europe it is Pepsi that is the choice of soft drink, cause your inundated with Pepsi sign's everwhere, Pepsi and Campari all over the tavernas and cafes. RC (even though it's not bad) can't compete with the Coke or Pepsi Madison Avenue publcity genious.

Whatever happened to "Funny Face Drinks", they were like Kool-aid, with names like "Goofy Grape" "Strange Strawberry", they were a big hit with kids in the 60s.

I live in Emporia Virginia, a Town halfway between Petersburg, Va & Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. There is a Piggly Wiggly Supermarket There, and so I went into the beverage aisle & the RC Cola only had 1 12-pack left.. I work at a Fast Food restaurant, & many kids/teenagers bring their RC Colas in. Emporia Va is a southern town that has a Strong Southern Accent among the Natives
