Because its population is more than double that of Iraq and I believe geographically it is four times larger?

Besides, we have two wars we can't seem to get out of plus a third pseudo-war happening in Libya. The last thing we need to do is start another one unless there is a direct attack on the U.S. by a foreign power.

Agree. They haven't attacked us. Lots of talk. Getting into this "preemptive war" business is rather tricky.

Also "they" means the Iranian government, not necessarily their whole populaton. Are we prepared for the civilian deaths that will happen?

Do we really need this kind of a reputation in the world? What will this gain us?

Great idea. Bush's administration planned to invade like 7 countries. We've only done like 3 and a half, so we'd better get crackin'. Lots of Iranian woman and children to kill so we can show how tough we are. Plus we need some mroe detainees to torture, the ones we have are getting boring.

That's the "half" I spoke of. We already have ground troops doing raids there (eg. Osama hit) and we've found a whole new place to shoot missiles at wedding parties.

Logic dictates that we should. But enough is enough already, if we want to learn from past mistakes and not let anymore troops die in vain, we should just nuke the opposition that would end all problems with that nation. Natually this can't be done so that leaves either surrender or abandon Israel. Should we just abandon Israel, guaranteed, eight oclock the next day, terrorism would cease at least 99%. Those are our options.

If we're to do anything in Iran, it'd probably be reminiscent of a Mujahideen circa 1980's type of thing (Utilizing internal forces to overthrow their government and Ayatollah). Enough Iranians really hate their current leadership, so the catalyst is already there. An outright invasion would probably only cause them to either unite against us, or to allow Amadtinylad to openly send in his forces to Iraq to really bite us in the ass. Bottom line, they need to be tied up at home for us to do anything.

However, if they appear to be creating nukes or B/C's, then active, strategic strikes would probably be necessary regardless.

Iran is no joke, they have a legit army and they know how to use it. If we do it will be very costly and bloody (get used to body counts in the 1000's per month not year). We will win, but the cost wouldn't be worth it.

What's the point if we're just going to chase them from country to country?

That was before China and Russia started to build them up. In terms of strength they are equivalent to North Korea in hard power in the Composite Index of National Capability. They have 2,833,000 troops, US has 2,455,837. 42.6% of the country is in the Military one way or another. 8,500 tanks, US has 13K. As I said we will win, but with not even close to a walk in the park.
