Fairfax Underground after Dark is pretty popular with 12.5 thousand. Not too shabby.

After Dark has 12 and a half thousand views, not posts. And the vast majority of the 4,700 or so posts in that thread are an extended retarded soliloquy by Mr. Misery.

The "high school redistricting" thread of '07 and '08 was so large that it actually caused the Phorum software to crash. IIRC, that thread remained on the front page of the forum for almost a whole year.

I had no idea when I started the MOM thread that it would still be going three years later. I've actually abstained from it a couple of times and have been posting on it much less frequently lately and it still continues to go. Something about those guys just pisses people off.

I was introduced to the Underground via the Redistricting thread and the subsequent newspaper article that appeared in the Fairfax Connection newspaper (or was it the Fairfax Times? Can't remember which local free rag it was). Thought the site was pretty damned funny, and sometimes informative. Of course, the characters were the same/but different then.

The Omeara thread is really just complete garbage. What you notice is the teeny tiny percentage of people that actually post in that POS. The great majority of people take a look at it, see what garbage it is, and immediately move on. Again, just a few retards deliberately keep it alive.

You might think that, but no. There may be a dedicated group of about 10 people who regularly post on it. But there are lots of people who drop in and out. Additionally, the 600K+ views is indicative that it has a much broader readership than just those contributing.

No, the 664,000 views is measured against a measly 11,800 posts, meaning only 1.77 per cent of viewers are interested enough to say anything at all; at all times, it has among the lowest respone rates of any thread. Or, more specifically, 98.3 per cent find it so boring and empty, they never bother to write at all. As it is, the Omeara thread sits there and basically pollutes the boards.

You are not going to find response rates significantly higher for other threads.

The redistricting thread has a post to hit rate of about 4.5% - higher than the MOM thread, but still very, very low.

I think part of it has to do with page reads. Every time you go from one page in a thread to another, the read counter clicks one.

I agree with Carney. The Omeara thread is very, very low in terms of actual posting and responses. Certainly many are in the 3-5 0/0 range, but 1 point something? That's shows everyone finds the thread even pretty darn useless. It's kinda like a car crash, you look, then feel guilty and ashamed that you did.

On average, each MOM post is being viewed 56 times. The idea that a few people fucking around a thread can consistently maintain that level on their own is suspect. This would indicate the thread has a lot of regular readers who choose not to post.
