Trump has been involved with some failed ventures, never declared personal bankruptcy but has had some of his investments go through reorganization. But in the end of the day, he's a money-maker with a pretty good understanding of economics, and the business world on small and grand scales.

Obama, on the other hand, is a lawyer and community organizer, with no significant legal victories and little to show for his constituents whose "communities" he helped "organize".

This is not a personality contest, if it was, I would give the edge to Obama, because I dislike Trumps egomaniacal narcissism so much.

Let say it is 2000 and you put 100K under Bush (MBA) and 100k under Obama (Law).

Put your money a very broad index fund that closely follows the Dow.

Under Bush you have $77,000 or 23% loss.
Under Obama you have $153,000 or a 53% gain.

It says nothing about them as presidents. If it did Obama would be one of the greatest.

Although not my favorite, Obama. Trump is not a sincere candidate, although I get a kick out of his New York style and he is a balsy bastard. I would go with Obama, although it is still very early and Trump can do a 360. Having financial difficulties in the past, can be a positive thing for a guy like Trump, because Im sure he benefitted from lessons learned, a failure can be as rewarding as a success, in te right circumstance.

Actually, the question you should be asking is would you invest $100K with John Boehner, because Congress controls the budget, not the President.

But it is a stupid question. Businesses aren't a democracy and private companies, like Trump's, are even less so. Trump probably answers to very few people. And he can dictate what he wants when he wants. Elected official, no matter how powerful, can't.

It's a stupid question because why would I go to either one? Trump is not a very successful businessman historically, and Obama isn't any kind of financial adviser at all. He probably knows some good ones, but that's not really what you are asking. I would take either of their advice like I would take any random friend's advice about investments, with a grain of salt and a lot of research on my own.

If I was like 100% of lending institutions I would NOT select Trump - he doesnt pay his debts. You are likely to burn through almost 100k in legal fees trying to collect from Trump; thats his play, find someone stupid enough to front money or services then pay them 0-50% of the value of the transaction.

full disclosure - I am a Democrat. However, if I had to choose a pres candidate to manage my personal cash, I think my money would be safest in Mitt Romney's hands.
