Dozens Arrested In Philadelphia Dog Fighting Raid

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Pennsylvania SPCA is working overtime this morning, raiding homes across the city breaking up what officials are calling the largest dogfighting ring they’ve ever seen in this city.

Officials say this dogfighting ring has been under surveillance for awhile. And late last night, early this morning, the Pennsylvania SPCA with Philadelphia police acting on a tip that fights were happening, raided a home on the 2600 block of Gerritt Street.

Pennsylvania SPCA director of law enforcement, George Bengal says when they entered the house, there were around 25 people watching a fight in progress.

“They actually ran, and left the dogs in the ring fighting, unattended when we entered the property.”

Those two dogs that were fighting, Bengal says are in pretty bad shape. In all six dogs were taken from that house. And 15-20 people were arrested facing animal cruelty and felony dogfighting charges.

At about 7 a.m. Monday, officials raided another home — this one in Kensington — where Bengal says they found 12 dogs stacked in cages in the basement alongside a collection of drugs, weapons, and dog fighting paraphernalia.

Who wouldn't be mad? Not only is it screwed up what Vick did, but he's an asshole with a paycheck in the millions, and yet he still acts like some dumb hood rat.

he already payed for what he did.. on top of losing basically all of his money and endorsements he went to jail. I'm not saying he didn't deserve it all cuz he did but the guys trying to start off fresh. Who would sit on a bench and wait to come in for one play when before he was the most payed in the NFL at a point in time? Hood rats make alot of money too dealing, stealing, etc. There will always be two sides for this argument, just saying.

Vick likes fights so much, maybe he should have a few pro fights like the guy from the Baltimore Ravens is.

haha... JEALOUSY good one. dogs do suck. and really.. real peach of a guy? i can start naming people in the NFL that have done things worse than letting dogs fight...hmm Pacman Jones? BigBen? Chris Henry? the list goes on... Didn't know raping, shootings, and giving alcohol to underage teen girls was "peachy"... Don't hate that Vick is a great QB. You must be a fan of a sucky ass team.
