CHEVRON is "mostly american" (shares are allowed to be held by foreign companies, headquarters and powers remaini entirely USA)

CHEVRON did start this - did speak politically - saying "it is time for a republican to win in Calfornia" aka gavin must go. according to associated pressings. (gavin must go is obvious since he's end of legal limit, so saying he must go is a little silly)

but really this wasn't an attack against Gavin or a presidential run nation wide

i don't think gaving should issue a boycott simply because a gas company wants a "not weaponized government" leading california and "strong encumbent time to give up power over inflation" opinion

chevron didn't launch an anti-democrat nationwide campaign

and it's not fair to boycott a company who issues a "pro-community" statement

(it might be fair to boycott if they sold out parent company to china oil in a global conspiracy and such like that: but CHEVRON HAS NOT DONE THAT they don't deserve a boycott)

and it's not fair to boycott a company who issues a "pro-community" statement especially while ... taking money from "BP"

infact - it might even be A FEDERAL IMPRISONMENT OFFENSE for a politician to take BP money and tell his "large corrupt constituency spread by greasing palms" to not buy gasoline from CHEVRON

that would be a china move and be illegal inside the usa. i believe there's plenty of legal constructs for that "a sitting governor cannot tell `loyola voters' not to buy a product" where he has conflict of interest

of course gavin is about to leave office - but the offense could keep him out of the presidential race
