Why join FFXU?
Posted by: Anonymous User ()
Date: November 08, 2010 05:56PM

Seems like so many get a jolly over piddling around with online handles and identities. It's somewhat amusing to read but ultimately lacks the entertainment punch of other posts on this site.

With that, why should one join this website? Posting anon means you say what you mean without regard to any online "reputation". It's the one reason I follow this site from time to time.

I'm wondering why anyone regsiters here... can anyone sell us "independents" on the joys of being a registered user?

I registered because I'm lazy and didn't want to keep going through the anti-spambot verification. That's it.

The first time I posted I thought you had to be registered, so I signed up. I had never heard of a forum where registration was optional. The PM and Report features come in handy and don't work unless you're registered.

I'm registered, and I still say what I mean without regard to any online reputation. Why would you care about what a bunch of strangers think?

Exactly. Same reason that I signed up. I don't mind if people think I'm a bigot, financially conservative, have a dislike for Democratic politics as well as un-educated people who do dumb things. Having the same name here, allows people to link my posts together and "profile" me. Profiles ... schmofiles ...

Back when I registered, you actually had to go through an initiation similar to this:

==================================================================================================
"And if any women or children get their legs torn off, or faces caved in, well, it's tough shit for them." -2LT. Bert Stiles, 505th, 339th (On Berlin Bombardier Mission, 1944).

when you register, you get those neat red "new" icons next to each topic you haven't read....that way, you can keep track of what threads you haven't checked out yet. It's pretty neat. But I wish the red "new" things would go past page 2.

You have to register so that the state can track your every move.

Why the resistance? Are you some kind of subversive?

Dude... double you tea if?

Nothing in your long-winded pontification applies exclusively to posting with a registered name.

Your post is more of an argument against confessing to illegal activities on the net in general than it is a "counter-argument" to posting with a registered name.
