I'm pretty sure Fairfax county is the left 1/4 of the map.

I think he wants broader coverage of FFX, and sorry I dont know of one.

This came from a UK Guardian article that I found linked off Drudge.

Interesting to see how Old Town Alexandria has changed. Most anything north of Princess or Orinoco used to be completely Af-American. No longer. They've now been pushed to a small corner near Braddock Road.

I too would like to see the western half of FFX, but imagine its pretty similar to the rest with some more orange and blue in Reston and Herndon.

The sudden shift between red and blue in NW DC is pretty dramatic. I'm guessing that's somewhere around 14th St. Capitol Hill really sticks out too, as does Langley Park, MD.

16th Street as it borders Rock Creek Park.

Yeah, and that orangish area right in the middle near the park is probably the Mt. Pleasant area.

I'm surprised there isn't a lot more green.

That's a fascinating map.

Another interesting observation is that the Asians are all along Route 50 (VA side).

The Rock Creek Parkway creates quite the dichotomy. Always knew about the Anacostia River but didn't realize how it existed to the north.

I tried to compare to Google maps and MSN to find the outer boundaries of the map by looking at the rivers etc.

My best guess is that the "south" border is near Woodbridge and Ft. Belvoir but north of Mason Neck.

The "west" border runs a line from Lake Ridge to Fairfax City to the 123/Hunter Mill Road intersection, then basically straight up Hunter Mill Road and then Springvale Road.

So, you should see large "green" populations in Annandale, etc. Perhaps, the results give the impression that Asians "mix" better with the existing populations.

The map clearly does not show far west FFX (Chantilly, Centreville, Herndon, west reston, etc).

Columbia Heights used to be all black and ghetto, boy-oh-boy, how that's changed as of recent. The same can also be said about the neighborhoods around RFK.

Btw, I don't see enough Orange in FFX. Has anyone else noticed that? We have Hispanics EVERYWHERE, but I don't see that represented on this map. As a matter of fact, we're extremely diverse, but you can't tell that from this map.

I lived near 16th and Euclid back in the 90s, and used to be kinda nervous walking over that way. Going past Meridian Hill Park after dusk was a no-no (and, there was nothing to go to anyway). The metro opened some time after that and since then it's become hipster-central. Probably the most gentrified part of DC over the past 10-15 years.
