Welcome to Fairfax Underground, a project site designed to improve communication among residents of Fairfax County, VA. Feel free to post anything Northern Virginia residents would find interesting.
When I buy beef jerky i open the package and leave it in the fridge for a day, it helps dry the stuff out and toughens up the meat. I store it at room temperature before eating it though.
Two other foods: bananas don't need to be cold, and, I hate when salad dressing is served really cold. It should be cool, but not served a few degrees above freezing.

I dont know where I was going with this, so you are right on.
We are running out of frige space and I was trying to explain to my wife that some shit doesnt belong in a frige.
Grapes are better at room temperature too. But you are right about fruit. It can be kept refrigerated to keep it from spoiling though. Then take it out for a day or two to let it warm and ripen a bit. To ripen a little faster, put them in a paper bag.

No worries. Good luck with convincing the wife; those discussions cause huge arguments. In the end, make sure it dosen't end YOU up on the couch. If it's between a banana in the fridge and getting laid.....the banana should go in the fridge.

Like permanently stop ripening or just won't ripen while still refrigerated? Pretty much all fruit is refrigerated at the store or when being transported, the notable exception being bananas.
Edit: BANANAS DON'T GO IN THE FRIDGE!

Your mom too, huh?!? Mine even took the mini-fridge out of the basement! Now I have to go upstairs to get my Jolt. I suspect the fat free hot pockets are on the horizon...

no, but did deep fry a oreo and a fun-sized snickers. as long as you eat them quick, its good. Not too quick, hot oil is not fun.

My dignity won't allow me, and I'm the type of guy who doesn't turn his nose up at hot pockets and pizza rolls.

"Eww" is the start of it. Projectile vomiting is the rest.
I'll never be able to shake the image of unplugging my coffee pot and having those little German roaches run out of the electrical outlet.

They never need refrigeration and can be eaten anywhere!
