Advice Needed

Ok, I promise this is the last thread about my ac- I made this a new thread from incident with repair man because I am no longer worried about being scammed and need some help picking my final choice- here are the two options.

Value Model ~$4k
3.5 ton, 13.5 SEER, 10 yr warranty

Mid-Line Model ~$5k
3.5 ton, 14.0 SEER, 10 yr warranty
Slightly more energy efficient, quieter (we don't care), two-speed fan to cool a little quicker and maintain temperature more efficiently, will probably last a little longer.

Our house is about 2,000 sq. ft. Any advice is appreciated, but primarily we are trying to choose between these two options. Thank you!!!

Why go cheap? Get the mid-line with two speed fan.
Because power efficient cooling, is cool man.

Who am I kidding, go cheap.

I'd go with the base model. The higher the SEER, the more complicated they are, and more likely to break.

The little bit you save on juice will be more than offset when that fancy circuit board burns up.

BTW, 4 grand for a 3.5 ton A/C only is nuts, get more bids. I just replaced ALL my HVAC, furnace and A/C. Trane 14 SEER 3 ton A/C and high efficiency gas furnace...$5200.

This conversation is way over my head,

Seers? What are they?

This is why I need a man.

Geez Sally, don't you know that seers are those people who know things that nobody else knows?

I had the same option - I went with the 4K model. It would take a good number of years to recoup the the extra cost with the 5K option.

Call Shanahan's Heating & Cooling for a bid. Great service and great prices.

PS: When I said I "just" replaced mine, actually it's been about a year and a half, but things shouldn't have changed all that much.

Are they both eligible for the 33% tax rebate program? I believe that program ends the 31st of August. Google it if you don't know.

Sears quoted 11K for the tax rebate, a lot of the money being for the furnace. Our furnace is not that old and is working fine, and 11k is money we do not have right now. We got the 4k (actually 3800) model and it was installed Tuesday- thanks again to everyone who listened and helped!!!

I'm old - never seen the LMBO appendage to ROFL. People use LOL too much imo.

As for the OP - research the two, see why there is a 1k difference. I would be inclined to go with the 4k one unless there is a true reason why 1k more makes sense then do a cost analysis to see when you'd recoup that variance then decide.

My magic eight ball says "maybe later" - I'd go with that advise!

OMG!! You don't know what ROTFLMBO means? I guess you city folk need a yodeler like me around to teach you the ins and outs of things. LOL

And, no, oh really, it doesn't mean the disgusting thing you came up with. Where I come from the word "ass" is considered an inappropriate word to use when referring to the posterior portion of an individual... unless the individual is a MULE. (with a capital M) LOL

So, we use the more appropriate and far more accurate term "bottom" when expressing our joviality utilizing that particular internet acronym. Bottom starts with the letter "B". Hence, the new and far more refined acronym ROTFLMBO! Get it!
